Post "Sabri Brother's " Pure Musician......!!

By Bollywood Hungama News Network,

After the musical hit Aashiqui, Vishesh Films is all set to repeat history with its latest offering Jashn with Adhyayan Suman as the lead. When Bollywood Hungama spoke to Adhyayan (who is now touted to be the latest blue eyed boy of the Bhatts), he confirmed the news but refused to comment anything further about the film.

Speaking about the film, Mukesh Bhatt said, "Jashn will be directed by the duo of Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala (of The Train fame) and will be produced by us. Let me also clarify that we are yet to finalize the leading lady and its definitely not Sonal Chauhan (as reported in certain sections of the media). This film will be the biggest musical by Mukesh Films till date. I am confident of the film's music and can easily assure you that it will be far more superior to even Jannat. With Jashn, we are introducing a Jaipur based sensational music director called Sharib.

And mark my words that he will be the biggest music director in Bollywood within a mere span of one year! He is one guy whose tunes comes from the marrow of his bones. It's after a long time, that I have come across a 'Pure Musician'.

When asked about the story of the film, Mukesh said, "It's a story of a 19 year old boy Akash (played by Adhyayan), and his ambition to become a rockstar in life. He is a part of this band called 'Jashn'. Beyond this, I cannot reveal anything." When we spoke to film's director Raksha, she said, "Though I cannot divulge anything at this moment, all I can tell you is that we are genuinely looking for a fresh face opposite Adhyayan because the character in the film demands one. I would also add that Jashn is basically a love story with a musical backdrop."

Elaborating on Adhyayan's role, reliable sources close to the Bhatt camp said he is playing a budding musician who is initially careless towards life, and feels that getting a break in music is a cakewalk. Its only when he faces the harsh realities of life, does he realize how wrong he was. After that, he becomes tad serious about his career decision to make it big as a musician. In a nutshell, the film is basically about his pursuit to success and happiness, whilst becoming a musician. Sources also added that in order to do full justice to the role, Adhyayan is leaving no stone unturned by religiously attending guitar classes for three hours everyday, followed by rigorous acting sessions! The hunt for a girl is also on in the role of his sister.

Lastly, Mukesh Bhatt signed off saying, "I am glad that T-Series got the music rights of Jashn, as they also happen to be the same music company who had earlier released Aashiqui. The shooting for shooting Jashn will begin next month and we are looking at a March 2009 release."

New Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS) Singer Toshi Sabri, who enthralled TV viewers with his soulful and powerful voice on music reality show 'Voice of India', has now teamed up with his brother Sharib to score a song for forthcoming thriller 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues'.

While Sharib has composed the music for the opening song 'Maahi' for the film, Toshi has lent vocals to it. The song is a haunting melody picturised on the lead actors - Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut.

'It was our dream to become a part of Bollywood and when we got this opportunity, we really couldn't believe our good fortune. We truly feel blessed and extremely lucky,' Toshi said in a statement.

Toshi, who hails from Rajasthan, has participated in three major TV reality shows - 'Voice of India', 'Ustadon Ke Ustad' and 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar'. Despite his popularity among the masses, he failed to win any of these.

Mukesh Bhatt, who has produced 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues' said he is quite impressed with the song which Toshi and his brother have worked upon.

'We try to give a chance to budding talents so that our audience gets something new and refreshing all the time. A well-made film means one which scores high on story, acting as well as the music.

'I think both Sharib and Toshi are fantastic musicians and it's been a great pleasure working with them for our film,' Bhatt said.

The music album of the film will hit stores Wednesday. Directed by Mohit Suri and co-presented by music label Sony BMG, the film is expected to release in January next year.

Raaz: The mystery continues
*** &1/2

The showstopper here is Maahi by brothers Toshi and Sharib. Singer-composer Toshi has been seen on three reality shows (including Star Voice of India). Sharib is the co-composer of the compelling track.

In other words, the film’s producers, the Bhatt brothers, continue with their success in promoting music talent. The track also has evocative lyrics by Sayeed Qadri.

Sample this: Tujh mein hai kuch aisi subah si.. jiske khaatir main tha jaga sa.. aa tu mere khwab saja ja re. The track keeps replaying in the mind and heart.

Debutant composer Pranay Rijia comes up with a competent title track while Raju Singh’s two compositions manage to hold interest. DJ Suketu and Gourav Dasgupta’s strictly-okay songs feature on the soundtrack too.

Raaz The Mystery Continues Music Review

Raaz - The Mystery Continues

Any follower of Bollywood, especially when it comes to good music, would certainly know by heart the entire catalogue that Vishesh Films has created in last two decades. And now when Bhatt brothers are ready to strike again with Raaz - The Mystery Continues (which is not a sequel to Raaz and mainly extends the horror-n-mystery genre forward), their music is in news once again.

Would it impress yet again, just like majority of films coming from the house of Bhatts do? Would it have soulful tunes which would make Raaz - TMC yet another addition to the enviable music catalogue of the Bhatts? Would Emraan Hashmi's lucky charm rub over Raaz - TMC too when it comes to popularity of music? Would Raaz - TMC match up to Raaz that had some haunting melodies by Nadeem-Shravan and still registers sales at the music stands?

MUSIC

Raaz - TMC takes an excellent start with 'Mahi Ve' which can be comfortably placed as the flagship number of the album. Though in essence 'Mahi Ve' is a love song, it has an element of pain and a wait for togetherness attached to it that brings with it some trademark Bhatt element. Also, this melodious track by Sharib-Toshi has a good fusion of Indian and Western instruments that come together to make it a piece which gets on you after the first listening itself. A chartbuster number that also appears in a 'Rock With Me' version, it is waiting to make waves in weeks to come.

If you liked 'Bheege Hoth Tere' [Murder], chances are high that you would fall for 'Soniyo' as well. Picturised on Adhyayan Suman and Kangna, this Raju Singh composed has a serene feel to it and celebrates the coming together of two hearts who have perhaps found true love for the first time. With a hint of Western touch to it, 'Soniyo' is a soft romantic number which has it's moments, especially in the 'antara' portions, where time tends to stand still!

However, not just time but your feet also start moving the moment the rhythm of Raju Singh composed 'O Jaana' begins. A true follow up to 'Kaho Na Kaho' [Murder], 'O Jaana' is a dance floor number and more than anything else, one looks forward to seeing Kangna in a chilled out form for perhaps the first time ever in a Hindi film. A track with just the right kind of punch required to attract youngsters, especially in the 'Dance With Me Mix' version by DJ Suketu, 'O Jaana' is all set to be a number that would rock the charts other than 'Mahi Ve'.

Pranay M. Rijia, a new composer, gets an entry into the world of Bhatts with the responsibility of creating the title song 'Kaisa Ye Raaz Hai'. The track has a haunting-n-silent beginning to it and while the pace is quite slow here, it is just right for a number belonging to this genre. A situational song, it is expected to be placed at numerous junctures in the narrative. 'Bandaa Re' marks an end to this album which has a devotional feel to it. A number which gives the message of God being right in front of you rather than at pilgrimage spots, it brings with it a fusion of Indian classical and 'Sufi' flavor.

LYRICS

As has been the case in majority of his songs, Sayeed Quadri's lyrics succeed in telling the most complex tale in the simplest of manners. One hear of 'Mahi Ve' and you understand why association between Bhatts and Quadri is for the keeps. However, beats hold center stage in 'O Jaana' due to which one doesn't delve deep into Quadri's lyrics. The tide reverses though for this third track in the album, 'Kaisa Yeh Raaz Hai', where quite a few questions are raised and then left unanswered in a quest to be explored further in the film's narrative. Kumaar, an emerging talent, proves his versatility once again by writing a mushy 'Soniyo' that is a far cry from the fun mood of his very own 'Maa Da Laadla' [Dostana]. Surprisingly though, the lyricist of 'Bandaa Re' doesn't find his/her mention on the album's credit details!

VOCALS

Will Toshi be the next voice for Emraan Hashmi? By the look of things, it may well be the case after hearing him singing excellently for the young actor in 'Mahi Ve'. If Himesh Reshammiya's voice has contributed in a major way to Emraan's popularity, Toshi too has it in him to have an extended association with Emraan. Sonu Niigaam and Shreya Ghoshal are expectedly good in 'Soniyo' though both of them are best when it comes to the 'antara' part which musically too is far more impressive than the 'mukhda'.

Krishna sings the 'From The Heart' version which is almost unplugged and has a far more haunting appeal than the version heard first. Listen to this solo track when you wish to just think about the one you love most with no interference whatsoever from the outside world. Later, he is also heard in 'Bandaa Re' where he makes the maximum impression during the 'Sufi' part of the song.

KK proves why he is the man of all seasons the moment his voice is heard in 'O Jaana' and 'Kaisa Yeh Raaz Hai'. While he is all spirited in the former, he goes pensive in the latter, hence bringing variation in the diverse moods that the two songs are set in.

OVERALL

There were four questions raised at the beginning of this reviews for which the respective answers are: a) The music of Raaz - TMC indeed impresses, b) The soundtrack here is yet another good addition to the enviable music catalogue of the Bhatts and c) Emraan would certainly have some more chartbusters to add to his name. As for the last question i.e. whether Raaz - TMC matches up to Nadeem-Shravan's Raaz, then well, let's put it this way that albums like Aashique, Raaz or a Saajan are made only once and there shouldn't even be a conscious effort to replicate or surpass them. In this regard, the music of Raaz - TMC has its own place under the sun and what matters in the end is whether it works for the film or not. Well, the answer for this one is a firm Yes!

Jashnn is easily one of the most eagerly awaited soundtracks of 2009. Not least because it’s a Bhatt soundtrack but this time the main reason is due to the fact that it’s the debut soundtrack of relatively new composers, Sharib Toshi. The talented duo are real life brothers (Sharib Sabri and Toshi Sabri) trying to make it big on the Hindi music scene having already become an overnight sensation with their superhit number “Maahi” for the Bhatt’s last movie Raaz TMC. So impressed was Mukesh Bhatt with that composition that he immediately pencilled them in for their next movie which happens to be the musically founded Jashnn starring Adhyayan Suman as a rock-star singer to be…

Now expectations have heightened even more because of Mukesh Bhatt’s recent comments comparing Jashnn to Vishesh Films very own Aashiqui (1990) composed by the then newcoming duo Nadeem Shravan (Bhatt believes Jashnn is the best 'Bhatt' soundtrack since Aashiqui). Needless to say Aashiqui became the best selling Hindi soundtrack of all time and rightly considered by many to be one of the best (Hindi) soundtracks of all time. Such comparisons are consequently unnecessary but maybe that’s a good way to promote a soundtrack? Whilst Maahi was a successful track, it’s a completely different challenge when you have to create numerous tracks on a consistently high (quality) level. Can the talented duo pull off the impossible? Let’s find out…

Nazrein Karam is a simple, all out dance track to open the soundtrack and it works well for the on screen singer-to-be (Adhyayan Suman). It succeeds with its intended impact much like Aayo Re does later on with it’s high energy levels, decibel levels and pace, this is all about getting your feet tapping in more ways than one! It’s still weak from an auditory perspective however because the arrangements are nothing new or fresh from what we have all heard before. Nevertheless K.K. deserves some kudos for his singing along with Shreya Ghoshal. Lyrics are weak though. Note the Kilogram Mix later in the soundtrack is quite enjoyable and will be a hit in dance clubs and parties…NOT BAD!

The lyrics for Aaya Re suggests it is the typical introductory song for a protagonist singer-to-be… The breezy soft rock music is fun particularly on first listen and undoubtedly helped by K.K’s powerful vocals but in all honesty, it leaves you unconvinced and disappointed due to its limited replay value. In fact, you can hear the crowd shouting “SHARIB TOSHI …MUST DO BETTER”….

And they do exactly that with a stunning track called Dard-E-Tanhai which is easily the best song from Jashnn and one of the highlights of 2009. Right from the start, the sombre tone ushers a touch of class and embodies the hallmarks of a chart-buster in the making; melodically strong musical arrangements (particularly the piano, guitar and percussion), fantastic vocals by Nouman Javaid and equally powerful lyrics (by Nouman)….Sharib-Toshi have produced a notable track which has the potential of remaining on your playlist for some time to come. In fact it could only be enhanced with a remix version. And thankfully, that comes later in the form of the Kilogram Mix which is equally mesmerising. Dard-E-Tanhai is AWESOME PERSONIFIED!

Nouman Javaid was the highlight of Dard-E-Tanhai and his talents are only further enhanced in Main Chala which is equally rich in the singing and lyrics department. Musically, Sharib-Toshi provide a fairly pure platform with only a piano and an acoustic guitar used to soothe your soul. The occasional harmonica play is sheer blissful and a nice touch to a very enjoyable track. Main Chala Unplugged is a short rendezvous. IMPRESSIVE STUFF!

Tere Bin is arguably the weakest track from Jashnn as it brings nothing fresh to the romance genre. In fact, it probably won’t feature in your playlist after the first listen such is the nature of the mundane arrangements. Singing by Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal works well but lyrics are another huge letdown and overall the outcome is a forgettable listening experience. Sharib-Toshi clearly need to work on this genre for future soundtracks. WEAK OUTING!

Thankfully the duo end on a high note. The combination of a superb melody and some fine vocals by the Sabri brothers make Aish Karle an extremely addictive rock tune that should become a firm favourite after a few listens. The lyrics are pretty mindless but when the music is this attractive, who cares? Just turn up for an ADDICTIVE ONSLAUGHT!

To answer the earlier question, the music of Jashnn is in no way comparable to the near faultless, boundary pushing musical production that was Aashiqui (1990). It’s certainly good but the harsh truth is that it also fails to live up to its own expectations and could and should have been so much better, particularly for a “debut” soundtrack. That said there are a few potentially chart busting numbers here particularly Dard-E-Tanhai and Nazrein Karam…other melodies sound borrowed from past Bhatt movies and are hence not strictly “fresh” or particularly innovative.

That’s not taking anything from Sharib-Toshi who have done the Bhatts proud and further demonstrate their exciting potential. In doing so they also break the shackles from the current crop of extremely mediocre soundtracks (a general trend in 2009 it appears) bringing a much needed boost to the music scene in the process. Consequently Jashnn comes highly recommended for starved music fans. One of the best OSTs of 2009 so ENJOY!

For every nobody who wants to be a somebody! Queer as it may sound but that's the tagline of the film JASHNN-THE MUSIC WITHIN. And this applies more to the Bhatts than any other producers in the film industry. Yes, it's indeed true that the Bhatts have certainly made many a nobody, a definite somebody in the film industry. One such example is the highly successful composer duo, Nadeem - Shravan, who they introduced through their superhit film, AASHIQUI. The Bhatts have been known for highly memorable music down the years and any album from their stable is always looked forward to and remains in demand by music lovers, both from the class as well as the mass.

However, their last album, RAAZ-THE MYSTERY CONTINUES, had disappointed to a large extent and except for the ''Maahi'' track there was no other composition that impressed. May be keeping that mind, Mukesh Bhatt has roped in Sharib-Toshi to compose for their latest musical offering, JASHNN. So, let's see if the composer duo, with help from the extremely versatile and talented Nauman Javaid and KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM and CHAMELI composer Sandesh Shandilya give the Bhatts a reason to celebrate (Jashnn!)

Sharib - Toshi choose a very simple but enchantingly melodious composition, ''Nazrein Karam'' to begin the album. Simple, because of the arrangements which rely heavily on soft beats, simple guitar strums and lovely soothing back up vocals. The choice of K.K as the singer surprises, but once when we hear the whole song, we know why! The high octave singing that K.K. is known for comes to the fore beautifully and matching him step for step, from high to low octave is our very own, Shreya Ghoshal, the newly crowned nightingale of Hindi film music. Together they constitute a formidable team as they croon this beautifully hummable song that has chartbuster written all over. Lyrics by Kumaar are filmy but effective. Definitely a superb number first up, and the whole team needs a pat on the back for giving us a fresh, romantic track that would be savoured by the young Gen as well as the die hard romantics.
