Bindu Seeta Subramaniam

The young singer and songwriter has received an honourable mention from the prestigious 16th Annual Billboard World Song Contest for When It’s Dark, a song she composed for her debut solo album. She was also selected as a top-20 finalist (performance) for the 12th Unisong International Song Contest, and is the only Indian to receive this honour.

“It’s pretty exciting to get this recognition. My dad is proud of me,” says Bindu, who unlike her father, is completely into western music. “I liked world music as a child. While my dad is entirely into classical music, he’s always encouraged me to follow my heart, which lies in western music,” she points out.
