 | | SALMAN TO WED PRIYANKA?
By Eye TV India Bureau
Holi Gossip The most eligible bachelor of Bollywood Salman Khan seems to have finally decided to get married. However, no one knows if he has taken this step following the announcement of Aishwarya Rai's marriage with Abhishek Bachchan in the near future or because of his intense love with any other girl. According to recent reports, Salman has decided in favor of his latest love. And, this is the most sexy and leading star Priyanka Chopra. Since Salman is very known for changing his girlfriends like clothes. It is indeed very difficult to guess about the new girl in his life. |
Though Salman has never seen so serious about his marriage as of now, yet it's difficult to believe about his recent proximity to Priyanka Chopra. All of a sudden there is a buzz that Salman is getting engaged with Priyanka. But, it's true that after being ditched by Akshay Kumar, Priyanka has come close to Salman Khan and it may lead to their marriage. Interestingly, sources close to Salman claim that the families of both the stars have given their consent to this marriage. Salman's love for Katrina Kaif hasn't ended either. In spite of this, the industry is busy in gossiping that Salman will invite Vivek Oberoi , another victim of Aish' rejection, to his marriage , but not John Abraham and Shaahid Kapoor and their respective girlfriends - Bipasha Basu and Kareena Kapoor. While Salman has reconciled the Aish-Abhishek marriage plan , Viveik Oberoi is still obsessed , and is therefore , often found suffering in agony. All his dreams have got shattered following Aish's engagement. | | That's why Vivek's Holi passed without usual fun in spite of his doctor's advice to forget the past and play Holi with his colleagues . And, many Bollywood colleagues did invite him to celebrate Holi with them but he is said to have dressed himself into 'Gerua' saffron clothes, a dress meant for saints occupied in meditation . Maybe, he believes that a heavenly woman like Menaka, will come to break his meditation, and win him. Industry circles wonder if Gurprit, his new love, will turn Menaka , and break his mediation and take him back to Bollywood .

 BOLLYWOOD GOSSIP
The creep salman should bash up Automobile spare parts dealer Ajay Giri, now in trouble for sending obscene SMSes to Katrina, had a run-in with Salman too just a few days back |
|
Rashmi Rajput | | | Ajay Vasant Giri | Actor Salman Khan may have bought himself a bad boy image for getting into brawls once too often, but this time around, he has a legitimate reason to bash up a man. It turns out that the man, 25-year-old Ajay Vasant Giri from Mulund, who forced Salman to lodge a police complaint against him for making incessant lewd phone calls to his girlfriend, actress Katrina Kaif, is the same one who had created a drunken scene outside the actor's Bandra residence last week.
Ajay is notorious for serial-stalking girls through phone calls and SMSes. According to the cops, around 15 days back, he started calling up Katrina and messaging her. The actress told Salman about it. He called up Ajay and gave him a piece of his mind. But Ajay didn't know it was Salman who had called him.
"Ajay has over 20 girls' numbers on his mobile phone. Through some link, he may have traced Katrina Kaif's number. He used to call her frequently," confirmed a police officer attached to the Bandra police station.
Ajay's relatives suspect he got Katrina's telephone number to send SMS and make calls, as he has a fetish for calling up girls. "We are sorry for what Salman Khan went through. Ajay is notorious and has a huge friends' circle. I hope he has learnt his lesson and won't repeat such childish behaviour," Kiran, Ajay's brother, told Mumbai Mirror.
When contacted, Katrina Kaif refused to comment on the matter.
Ajay, a Bollywood buff and a diehard Salman fan, bought a new Wagon R last week, and took two of his friends for a ride. High on alcohol, the trio decided to meet their favourite Bollywood actor at his residence in Bandra but they weren't allowed in by the security guard. They then created a scene and even had a scuffle with the guard. In their anger, they broke the postbox. Salman's cellphone bills fell out from the box, and there Ajay struck paydirt. He picked up Salman's phone number and began calling the actor frantically, ringing him about 24 times in a span of four days. Salman didn't answer the calls.
But later, when the irritated actor called back, he had an altercation with Ajay and they ended up hurling abuses at one another. Acting on Salman's complaint, the Bandra police detained Ajay and later released him on Monday evening.
 |
"Ajay is part of a notorious gang in the area. He bought a new car and took his friends for a ride. They drank heavily and hit upon a plan to meet actor Salman Khan," said Razak Hala, Ajay's neighbour. "Ajay boasted to his friends that he had Salman Khan's mobile number and that he was on good terms with the actor."
Earlier, Ajay had been picked up by the police for car theft. "His friend from Dombivali had given Ajay his car for repairs, the duo had a scuffle and an angry Ajay gave the car to another friend in Mulund. For two days, when the car remained in the building without anyone attending to it, people got suspicious and complained to the cops. The owner was traced. Ironically, Ajay had even accompanied his friend to lodge a missing complaint for the car," Halal added.
 | | Kiran hopes his brother Ajay has learnt his lesson | Who is Ajay Vasant Giri?
Ajay runs an automobile spare parts business along with his elder brother Kiran at MG Road in Mulund. A year back, he was booked by the Mulund police for car theft. He has a fetish for calling up girls and striking up phone friendships with them. His friends and neighbours allege Ajay's mobile phone stores the telephone numbers of at least 20 to 25 girls whom he keeps calling or messaging.
Ajay found the love of his life on the phone too. When he decided to get married to the girl, his family rejected her as she wasn't from the same community. The couple then made a suicide bid, which made the family give in. Ajay has been married for the last year-and-a-half and lives with his wife in Tambhe Nagar, Mulund east. He doesn't get along with his father, Vasant. |

 Re: BOLLYWOOD GOSSIP
What attracts NRIs to Bollywood? Neelam, Upen Patel, Geeta Basra, Katrina Kaif, Jiah Khan…….the list goes on for the number of actors born and brought up abroad, but trying their hand at Bollywood. What attracts them to Bollywood? Everyone has a different answer. “You don’t get to dance in Hollywood or British films. I have a passion for dancing. So, our films are definitely better,” says Geeta Basra. Upen Patel feels that he would not have got so much of recognition and acceptance anywhere else. The first problem which these NRIs face is the language problem, but all of them are confident that they can definitely overcome it. Madhur Bhandarkar says, “Language should not be a hurdle to prevent them from entering Bollywood. If a person has talent and acting skills, the movie can also be dubbed in someone else’s voice”. Whatever be the case, it is very evident that Bollywood is a strong attraction for NRIs and our movies are very popular abroad. It is this call that makes these actors face all the struggles, emotional crisis, adjustment to a new country and language barriers.

 | | staring them down: Salman Khan | On Wednesday night, Salman Khan was spotted at the premiere of Frank Miller’s 300 at Cinemax.
This Warner Bros flick, which is a big draw in America, had a fair share of stars turn up to get a look-see, including Sanjay and Zayed Khan, besides the usual telly brigade.

Looking ‘divine’ | | Seeking Divine Intervention? Katrina Kaif | Katrina Kaif literally wears her spirituality around her neck.
Lately, she’s been spotted wearing a beautifully delicate pendant with ‘Allah’ inscribed in Urdu (and from the looks of it, it’s been set in diamonds).
Very elegant and chic, no?

Tabu, Mira get ready for Koffee
Koffee With Karan may not be as steaming as it was in its last season. But host Karan Johar makes sure he gets interesting guests every time.
This week, we have director Mira Nair and Tabu on the Koffee couch. Tabu stars in Mira's latest film The Namesake, which will be released on March 23. The film, which saw an elaborate New York premiere, has been very well reviewed in India and abroad. Mira and Tabu were later joined by choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan. For Koffee lovers, here's a sneak preview to the show: Karan: You have been in this industry for how long, Tabu? Tabu: 18 or 19 years. Karan: Any regrets? Tabu: Lots. But it will take a while if I start discussing it. Karan: Professionally or personally? Tabu: Ah, personally, more I think. But, actually having said that, I wouldn't look at them as regrets -- more like a learning experience. But I wish I hadn't met a few people I had met, which I would not want to name. Karan: Do you sometimes feel that you are such a great actor and you have done some amazing work? In fact, I keep telling you this that critics awards should be globally called the Tabu awards because you keep winning them year after year. Do you feel you have got your due from the industry? Tabu: Yes, I have. Karan: You don't feel that they have undervalued you? Tabu: No, I don't think so at all. After Prem, I thought I should just go back and study. But I didn't. I stayed on and it kept getting better for me. For me, everything is like a bonus. Karan: I think you are just undervaluing yourself. Is it a case of low self esteem or just modesty? Tabu: Terrible low self esteem. Karan: But why? Have you seen your own performances? Tabu: I prefer not to. Karan: You have made such a beautiful film. Mira: Firstly, Jhumpa, the mother of the film, the mother of the book and then this extraordinary cast -- from Irrfan and Tabu... Karan: Do you sometimes feel that, you know, you make these international films but you are not doing anything for India? Do you ever feel the need to come back and do a full Hindi picture? Mira: You know, my theory is, I don't do anything that any one else does better than me *laughs* and you do it better than me. So, I mean I am not here to imitate. Watch Koffee With Karan on March 18 at 9 pm on Star One and Star World.

 Re: BOLLYWOOD GOSSIP
Jiah Khan, the sensuous new entrant
![[]](http://entertainment.oneindia.in/img/trans.gif)
By: Daliya Daspurkayastha Thursday, March 15, 2007
Jiah Khan, the new entrant in Bollywood has been labelled as the new S** bomb. Whoever has watched the scene in Nishabd in which Jiah is shown coming out of the beach would agree that the lass looked more hot than Urmila in Rangeela. Though she considers herself as tomboyish, her recent perfomance in Nishabd has got a new identity for her...of that of a S** bomb! Ram Gopal Verma discovered her and cast her opposite superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
CHILDHOOD-
Jiah was born to actress Rabia on February 20, 1988 in New York, and later moved to London. There has been a rumour regarding her parenthood. It is said that she was the daughter of filmmaker Tahir Hussain, which makes her Aamir Khan's step sister. Tahir Hussain does not deny that he shares a close friendship with Jiah's mother but he did not clarify anything. Her mother was very consious about her in her childhood. She used to dress her up as boy so that no boys get attracted towards her.Whenever Jiah has to go out ,she used to change her dress in her friends house. Jiah, the much-talked girl, is a school going teenager, studied English literature and acting in Lee Strasberg's Institute.
EXTRA -CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Besides acting Jiah was interested in, singing and has had formal training in classical opera. She knows as many as five different forms of dancing. Even as a 16-yr-old girl, Jiah began dabbling with music and almost came to the point of releasing an album. She knows how to play the piano and she recorded six pop numbers before she ran out of finance. Not just this, Jiah has been consistently learning different styles of dancing for the last nine years. Today she knows belly dancing, salsa, lambada, samba and Kathak.
HOW THE ROLE KNOCKED HER DOOR
"Since I am an acting student, as a part of my school assignment, I was supposed to meet Hindi film directors and actors. RGV (Ram Gopal Varma) was on the top of my list. I had seen his Rangeela, Company and Sarkar seven to ten times. So, when I landed in Mumbai for a holiday, I went to his office. He asked me, `Would you like to act?' And within 20 minutes, I got the role," chuckles Jiah. At New Delhi's PVR Plaza to promote the film, she says, "At that time I didn't know that I had Mr. Bachchan opposite me.", revealed Jiah. The girl was also Mahesh Bhatt's choice for the film Tumsa Nahin Dekha ,but it was eventually done by Dia Mirza. At that time, she had a brief relationship with Emraan Hashmi.
JIAH'S ROLE IN NISHABD
Jiah played a very strong character in the film. 18-year-old girl who is very much inclined towards a 60-year-old man, an intense relationship develops between them. The whole story revolves between Jiah and Amitabh Bachchan. It was said that the film was a Hollywood adaptation of Lolita, but director Ram Gopal denied the fact. After jiah's performance in Nishabd she was flooded with lots of offer. Time will say whether Jiah can keep up the expectation of her fans.
JIAH'S EGO SPOKE OUT
Now listen to what Jiah has to say... "Working with Mr. Bachchan in my debut film has spoilt me. I would now like to work only with the best."
No doubt with an attitude and confidence like that, Jiah is all set to soar higher and higher. The sources add that Jiah has just signed a film with the biggest of co-star, which is going to shock everyone in the industry. Time will say whether Jiah can keep up the expectation of her fans.

Salman-Viviek at Ash do After Hours Correspondent Thursday, March 15, 2007 Scene and heard | | DNA | | Viviek Oberoi and Salman Khan |
Aishwarya Rai may have dumped both actors for Abhishek Bachchan, but the ice between Salman Khan and Viviek Oberoi has certainly not thawed. On Wednesday night, fashion designer Nandita Mahtani threw a party for Hollywood actor Ashley Judd, who is in town to promote HIV/AIDS awareness. The exclusive do picked up as soon as both of Rai’s former boyfriends made their entry. An onlooker says both ignored each other throughout the evening. Guess, men do keep strong grudges

Tabu, the charmer

With Tabs, Tabdi, T, you know where you stand. Some of her friends even call her Tobler and that chocolate brand is even a part of her email id. No pussyfooting, no half-answers, no dangling conversations. She could have cashed in on her National Awards for Maachis and Chandni Bar. She didn't. She could have become the next Smita Patil. She didn't.
Okay so I'm still wary of calling her up for a chat to ask, "T, what's up?" She doesn't have great cell-chat manners, but when it comes to the sms route, she's a perfectionist. Every message is instantly answered, and with correct spellings..no abbreviations.
When I tell my T beta (I'm her 'deds') that I'm writing up this 1,000 worder on her, she does the msg thing, "But why deds. What have I done now?" There there she goes selling herself short all over again.
No discussion is permitted on The Namesake till I've seen it. When I have, she agrees and disagrees with my comments. She's never been the sort to get either all sulky or all chuffed about criticism or praise. But yes, when she mimics a scene from early talkie cinema - playing a gaon ki gori awaiting her lover across the river bank - she rolls over with you on the carpet, doubling up with laughter.
If there was a woman journo who once went to London and bragged, "I was in a bubble bath every day there," Tabu will reenact that piece of precious dialogue and have you shedding tears of laughter.
She's a comedienne, who could have outclassed Sridevi, but didn't seem to get those ha-ha roles like Chaalbaaz because from the outset, it was felt that she was maybe "too serious." Okay she was fantastic as the overwrought Punjabi housewife in a cameo in Biwi No 1 but who remembers her for her sense of ha-ha timing today? The first time I saw T was because of a delayed airflight. The closest spot to crave breakfast was at Shabana Azmi's Janki Kutir openhouse. And there she was fetching bhurji and baasi rotis warmed up. Head covered with a dupatta, the most impish smile on her face since a Walt Disney goblin, and all the adabs of a Muslim girl intact, she was a striking presence. Her aunt Ms Azmi, Shekhar Kapur, Ramesh Sippy and Javed Akhtar all exulted that she would be a huge star some day she had the combo of Nargis and Meena Kumari.
If you ask me Tobler's an original. She appeared as a raped schoolgirl in Dev Anand's shuddersome Hum Naujawan..whenever she's reminded of that performance, she giggles, "I didn't even know what rape meant." A part of her was down-in-thedumps though when the Boney Kapoor produced Prem took eons to get to the cinema halls. A quasibinding contract and a liaison with her screen hero Sanjay Kapoor, couldn't have exactly been good times for the girl from Hyderabad.
She fetched up as an incarnation of Audrey Hepburn opposite Rishi Kapoor in Manmohan Singh's Pehla Pehla Pyaar, inspired by Roman Holiday. Sweet but not happening.
Yet, T has remained fiercely loyal to her early directors Manmohan Singh, Priyadarshan who directed her in Sazaa-e-Kaalapani, and K Raghavendra Rao. Mention their names and she'll go, "Haaaai, they were so nice to me when others weren't." A sting there but she won't explicate.
I'm sure she would have loved to be cast opposite Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman Khan but she's been too tall for them. She's made the most compatible pair so far with Ajay Devgan (Vijaypath, Haqeeqat) and actually needs no male support as evidenced in Astitiva which showcased one of her best performances. She's not afraid to age in a business where most heroines believe that "to play a mother means digging your own grave." Personally speaking On the personal front, I haven't pried too much neither does she like to go beyond the statement that her father was an Iranian who abandoned her mother and she was brought up in a matriar chal household.
Her mother is a gentle, from all evidence far-from-meddlesome soul the ground for which must have been laid by T's elder sister Farha known for her spitfire ways in her heroinegiri days in the 1980s.
Tabu may be like Farha only. T is less-in-your-face, courteous and withdrawn. However, it's obvious that T can size up men and women on the first meeting, and mimic them from the way they sit to hang their head while talking. I dread to think the take-off she does on me but well that's one birthday gift I'm going to ask her for unashamedly. Man talk Men and T? Good question and a pretty vexing answer. Mostly, she has this flair for getting into relationships with men unequal to her. From what I've seen of her she seemed to be at her happiest when she was seeing Milind Soman (never mind the denials in print). She's a woman of sensuality but I suspect she is not the marrying kind unless the man does that typical number of sweeping her off her feet.
Till then Tabu, I suspect, will be in and out of her Greenacres house in Lokhandwala where her room is like that of a college-going girl's with a softboard, dolls (at last visit) and books galore.
Very adult-like, she'll tell you that she's building herself a house in Hyderabad it's being furnished and so why don't you drop in and see how it's going? If she's winging off to the US for a promoshoot for The Namesake, she'll sms, "You come, naah. New York is so much fun. We'll see plays, movies." I've seen the still photographs she has shot, mainly street pictures. I don't know why she doesn't do more. She writes articles, has been promising to send me a piece for over a decade now. "I am writing deds," she will sms. From Tobler beta, that means she hasn't even started and when she completes it she'll ask, "But it's good, no?"

 Re: BOLLYWOOD GOSSIP
Take a chill PIL!
Friday, March 16, 2007 21:18 IST | | DNA | | Aishwarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty and Liz Hurley |
Comic Vir Das gives his verdict on 3 unusual Public Interest Litigations We’re a people that loves attention. For most of us Andy Warhol’s 15 minutes of fame is enough but for some they like to milk it for all they can. We’re talking about all those people who file PILs randomly just so they can get some mileage out of it (incidentally, you can actually get pulled up for presenting an irrelevant PIL and wasting the Court’s time).
While the acronym actually expands into Public Interest Litigation, we’ve decided to call it Publicity Interest Litigation. We presented three such PILs to comedian and television host Vir Das and asked him to give us his verdict. Fruits of marriage A lawyer in Patna has filed a PIL against actor Aishwarya Rai’s “marriage” to a banana plant saying it is demeaning to women to do something like that based on superstition. Vir’s Verdict: Not guilty. Ash has a right to marry whom and what she pleases. If it means she is going bananas, then so be it. When you look that good, you could walk down the aisle to marry a ‘karela’ in Westminister Abbey and it would still be alright. Skintillating Shilpa Shetty got a summons from the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court in response to a PIL filed against her. The PIL states that certain pictures of her in the newspaper ‘Tamil Murasu’ are obscene. Vir’s Verdict: Not guilty. A heroine showing some skin is considered bad, but overweight men with chest hair that could put Big Foot to shame in yellow love-handle hugging ‘baniyans’ is all the rage! Holy Liz A gentleman in Rajasthan has filed a PIL against Liz Hurley and Arun Nayar for getting married with Hindu rites. The PIL states it was done with an intention to demean Indian rites and rituals, and hurt religious sentiments because they had already gotten married the Christian way. Vir’s Verdict: Guilty. If you are going to get married once in the UK and once in India, at least behave like an NRI and marry different people.

Celebrities Famous or Infamous?
![[]](http://entertainment.oneindia.in/img/trans.gif)
By: Arya Aiyappan Friday, January 05, 2007
Fame, success and wealth come with a penalty - the penalty of being under constant surveillance with every eye keeping vigil of your dealings. Celebrities often have to endure the media eyes prowling behind their day-to-day activities. Hard-earned fame and success is at stake every moment a wrong move is made. Every field (film, politics, sports, business, etc) is manifest with problems.
Money power and muscle power gives one an edge over the others. Celebrities today can dictate the norms of the day. Even when involved in scandals or other issues they manage to go scot-free by their sheer influence. Sometimes the reverse holds true when being a celebrity can land them in a precarious situation. What needs to be unearthed is whether the celebrity status works towards their advantage or disadvantage. These days' celebrities have acquired a cult like image. Controversies cloud their lives and while every move is closely scrutinized sometimes a dash of spice is added to make it sell. Exaggeration and manipulation enjoys a free hand.
The controversy bug has smote leading personalities many a time. Salman Khan is forever wooing controversies roughing up the media, misbehaving with his girlfriends, the black buck poaching case, underworld connections, an accident involving culpable homicide, etc of which his turbulent relation with Aishwarya Rai has been the talk of the town. Sanjay Dutt's Tada case, Fardeen's cocaine controversy, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi's hunting of an endangered black buck, and the hullabaloo at Sabarimala in the south regarding Kannada actress Jaimala and 'Mayuri girl' Sudha Chandran's entry into the shrine have all sparked up debates over the issues. Needless to say politicians are drawn in many scandals concerning top priority issues and so also sports personalities are caught up in doping cases, match fixing, etc.
These janus faced problems bring to mind a common concern of how most of the celebrities escape from the long hands of the law easily by sheer influence and money power. As soon as a problem crops up, within minutes the entire episode is hushed up leaving no trace behind. One seriously doubts the credibility of the law enforcing and law abiding agencies at work to wonder whether the Goddess of Justice is indeed blind or rendered blind. The discrepancies and bias works cleanly and the common man suffers while those holding high-profile posts and enjoying a celebrity status easily escape the clutches of law. Does money dictate the judiciary? Or Are the celebrities a cut-above the rest?
Fame and glory never come alone but has baggages attached to it. The price has to be paid. Celebrities hardly enjoy privacy with the paparazzi spying on them. princess Diana could hardly dodge them, as Preity Zinta rightly remarked public figures are under scrutiny and every eye is focused on them thus targeting them. Their private life is laid bare to the public by the media whose misinterpretations make life topsy-turvy. Saif Ali Khan's extra marital affair, Aamir Khan's second marriage, John Abraham-Bipasha affair, Karishma Kapoor's divorce, 'item girl' Rakhi Sawant's kissing storm by Daler Mehendi's younger brother Mika, Hrithik Roshan's onscreen kiss, Aishwarya's visit to a Darga and her secret marriage with Abhishek Bachchan are sensational topics with the public passing their own verdict.
Celebrities enjoy some civil liberties and privacy is their birthright. Punishment and crime go hand in hand, none can be above the law, be it a celebrity.

 Re: BOLLYWOOD GOSSIP
The impending Abhishek-Ash marriage has sparked off a lot of speculations regarding the future of their assignments together. However Ram Gopal Varma confirms he's going ahead with Sarkar 2 as per plans. Even Karan Johar's chief assistant Tarun Mansukhani is going ahead with his plans to make a film with Ash. In principle, Aishwarya has also said yes to Shridhar Raghavan's Happy Birthday with John Abraham.
"Aiswarya will start these assignments as soon as she completes Jodha-Akbar. There's absolutely no reason to think she'd quit working after marriage. Bothfamilies are very supportive of Ash's career. And that includes Mrs Jaya Bachchan," says a source close to Aishwarya.

 Re: BOLLYWOOD GOSSIP
Aishwarya Rai's Wedding Ring - Worth 50 Lacks Categories : Aishwarya Rai You just can’t miss the sparkling ring that Aishwarya is flaunting these days. It`s a huge solitaire that Abhishek slipped onto Ash’s finger during the engagement ceremony on 14th January.
Sources say that Tina Ambani, a close friend of the Bachchans, selected the solitaire on behalf of the Bachchans from a jewellery store in Breach Candy.
Apparently, Tina visited the store just days before the engagement and told the staff that she was buying the diamond ring “for someone else”.
The size apart, the price is quite a whopper too. A jeweller pegs the ring at over Rs 50 lakh.

 Re: BOLLYWOOD GOSSIP
From bikini to the veil! ROSHNI K OLIVERA 19 Mar, 2007 IST TIMES NEWS NETWORK > | UNVEILED: Actress Mallika Sherawat at a press conference to announce her Hollywood film in Mumbai on Saturday. Mallika will play the lead role in the film. (TOI Photo) |
Mallika Sherawat, who has signed a new Hollywood film, admits she has come a long way from Haryana.
With The Myth that she starred in alongside Hong Kong martial arts superstar Jackie Chan, Bollywood seductress Mallika Sherawat broke into Hollywood, but it is her new film with Bill Bannerman that she is now excited about. If she has been low key recently, Mallika says, it is because she has talked enough and now wants her performances to do the talking. She's come a long way, yes, but she's got miles to go, she admits to LT.
You've come a long way from the bikini to the veil, now that you've signed Bill Bannerman's Hollywood film Unveiled.
I think I came a long way a little while back. But a lot of people seem reluctant to see that. I always think I've still got a long way to go, no matter where I've reached. I see Unveiled too as part of the journey — a very important part, though!
Other Bollywood top female actors were also in the race for this role...
There's bound to be casualty in war!
Indian actors end up doing miniscule roles in Hollywood. Your critics said the same about you in The Myth...
I agree. But this time in Unveiled I'm in every scene and that's a first time for an Indian actress. But one has to start somewhere. In a Jackie Chan or a James Bond movie, how much footage is the girl going to get? I've always felt it was a great honour to be associated with someone like Jackie. After all, the role took me to Cannes and Toronto... something that a girl born in Haryana can't even dream of. How many Indian actresses have even shared a minute of screen time with someone of Jackie Chan's stature?
What's this buzz about you going to the US to marry an NRI?
What? I have no clue. You have completely caught me by surprise. With me, there is more misinformation than information. With me people keep inflating everything. My success, my failure, my ego, my weight... everything!
Are you single?
Yes. I was born that way!
What's the best part about being single?
I'm not shattering the hopes of all my male fans. Besides, I don't have to feel sorry for any guy who has to tolerate my tantrums and my bad behaviour!
You admit that initially in your career you did things for attention...
Of course. I didn't have a filmi last name, or big banners, directors or male stars backing me. I had no choice but to make it on my own.
How much did it really help?
Well, I haven't been knocked down yet! I'm still standing.
What do you think of the rat race among female actors in Bollywood?
Everyone's worked out a strategy for themselves and I have mine. May the best rat win!
