Himesh Reshammiya Music Director, Composer & Singer
Biography Name: Himesh Reshammiya
Date of Birth: 23rd July 1973
Profession: Music Director, Composer & Singer
Favourite colour: Orange
Current career status: According to the Times of India newspaper, Himeshji has been responsible for giving 28 hits in 6 months and BBC did a news piece on the same.
Biography Himesh Reshammiya is born on 23rd July 1973 and is the son of Veteran Gujarati music director Vipinji Reshammiya. Himeshji studied at Hill Grange School in Peddar Road where he met his best friend Prashant Chadha. Prashant is responsible for Himesh’s new look and for directing all of Himesh’s music videos from his private album “Aap Kaa Surroor” as well as promotional videos for the movies “Aashiq Banaya Aapne”, “Aksar” & “Tom, Dick & Harry”. At just 16 years old and before Himeshji went into music direction, he produced television serials for Zee TV which included serials such as “Andaz” & “Amar Prem”. The first big break came when Himeshji approached Salman Khan (who had just made it big with the hit movie “Maine Pyar Kiya”) who gave Himesh the chance to be a music director for the movie “Bandhan” along with the composer Anand Raj Anand. He became good friends with Salman Khan, a famous Bollywood actor who starred in the movie, and composed songs for some subsequent movies in which Salman starred. Since then, Himeshji & Salman have had a string of hits for movies such as “Pyar Kiya to Darna kya”, “Ye Hai Jalwa”, “Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge” and the more recent mega blockbuster album “Tere Naam”. From this experience, Reshammiya was able to develop his own unique style of composition, based on pop music and catchy techno beats. He also places a particular emphasis on indian melodic hooks to his songs. His most popular album can be said to be Tere Naam. With a series of popular film scores, he is considered to be one of the top music directors in Indian cinema today, along with A. R. Rahman and Anu Malik. His music is associated with the youthful and trendsetting culture that has recently been pervasive in India, particularly due to the popularity of the remixes of his songs. ** We have tried our best and have done a lot of research that the above data is right. We are not responsible if there is a mistake, as human we are bound to make mistakes, so please do contact us for the same.

Re: Himesh Reshammiya Music Director, Composer & Singer
'Aitraaz' music has nothing new to offer Publish Date : 11/2/2004 2:09:00 PM Source : India-Cinema-Audio Review The most distinguished aspect of a Subhash Ghai production is the music score. From "Karz" and "Hero" to "Taal", "Pardes" and the under-rated "Yaadein", the songs in a Ghai film define the way Hindi film music moves forward. Abbas-Mustan's "Aitraaz", though only produced by Ghai, signals a soaring, sometimes scorching, sound quality. It dips and rises through some skilful recording technique and strong, power-packed voices like Kunal Ganjawala - the guy who sang "Bheege hont" in "Murder" - and the ever-riveting Sunidhi Chuhan. Their song, "I want to make love to you", exudes the scent of erotica without getting out of hand. But pray, why is Himesh Reshammiya copying bits and pieces of Nadeem-Shravan's "Dil ne yeh kaha hai dil se" ("Dhadkan") in "Aankhen band kar ke"? Himesh Reshamiyya's music has fallen into a set pattern. The ballads have the two main voices crooning seductively while a skilled voice, which should be at the foreground not the background, eggs on the lovers' laments. The formula sounds frozen in this disappointing album. Udit Narayan-Alka Yagnik's two ballads "Woh tassavvur" and "Nazar aa raha hai" have nothing new to offer. The more smouldering tracks like "Aitraaz: I want to make love to you", which comes in three separate versions, try to pump up the passion with lyrics like "Touch me baby, kiss me baby..." But isn't that a little excessive? Adnan Sami-Sunidhi's "Geela geela" is more breathy than erotic. KK and Alisha Chinai whip up a more foamy feeling in "Yeh dil tumpe aa gaya". But that's because of the kind of singers they are. Extremely peppy and pulsating. The album gives a fulsome look because many tracks are repeated in remix versions. But after the last blizzard of beats dies down you feel you've been there, heard it all. Not a great soundtrack, nowhere near Reshammiya's "Tere Naam" last year. But it's as good as what he did for directors Abbas-Mustan's "Humraaz" in 2002.

Re: Himesh Reshammiya Music Director, Composer & Singer
Himesh sings for Tom Dick and Harry By: Goher Iqbal Punn Friday, February 24, 2006
Himesh Reshammiya made the whole world dance to his songs, 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne (Aashiq Banaya Aapne)', 'Jhalak Dikhlaja (Aksar)' and 'Tera Saroor (album: Tera Saroor)'. He is like a fire these days amongst the cinegoers and listeners, not only in the country but across the globe.
His singing talent has been approved like his compositions. All love to listen him now. Filmmakers and music companies are running after him since he is considered to be the success of every project, he gets attached with.
Now this singer is back with yet another foot-tapping sensational track "Jhoom Jhoom" for Oracle Entertainment's 'Tom Dick and Harry' - Deepak Tijori directs the movie. Himesh has sung the track and will also be starring in the video along with, Dino Morea, Anuuj Sawhney, Jimmy Shergill, Celina Jaitley and Kim Sharma. Recently the video has been shot with Himesh where he wore his lucky attire with cap, which he has worn in his earlier videos.
Himesh has given the music for this track and also scored the composition for the whole film. This romantic comedy features Dino Morea, Anuj Saawhney, Jimmy Shergill, Celina Jaitley, Kim Sharma, Shakti Kapoor, Avtar Gill, Kunika, Rakesh Bedi and Gulshan Grover and will hit the theaters in April, 2006. Now with Himesh on singing and music, Deepak Tijori has won the half battle already. Makers and the music company are vividly seeing huge sales from the music stands and for the film at the box office.

Re: Himesh Reshammiya Music Director, Composer & Singer
Music interview: Himesh Reshamiya

“I believe in using pure Raags” Today he is among the most popular of composers in Hindi films though still relatively new. He has proved that he has a certain flair for composing which is above the average. His big break came with a big bang in the David Dhawan film ‘Dulhan hum le jayenge’ produced by Baba Films; and Himesh Reshamiya feels that the years he’s wasted for the right break have been more than justified. He comes from a music background has learnt music from his father Vipin Reshamiya and imbibed both the traditional classical culture along with the happening rhythms of today. But though Himesh felt in his bones that he was made for a musical career he waited for the right opportunity rather than do just anything. It was Salman Khan who offered him a break in his film ‘Pyar kiya to darna kya’ and again in ‘Hello brother’. In both he did two songs each which became very popular- viz ‘Odhli chunariya’ and ‘Hatke’ were on everyone’s lips and hearing them producer Gordhan Tanwani offered him his first solo assignment in ‘Dulhan hum Le Jayenge’. And all the 8 songs of the film are so catchy and so melodious that Himesh feels it's a foregone conclusion that his career in music has started off. He’s already signed half a dozen more films two with Times music one with Mahesh Manjrekar among others. He says with great earnestness, “I think I’m one of the best composers today. Because I’ve a great feel for melody as well as today’s sound which not too many people have. My father worked with Laxmikant-Pyarelal and I’ve imbibed their magnificent understanding of orchestration I’Ve loved the work of Madan Mohan and Shankar Jaikishan and today that of AR Rahman but I’ve got my own sound. Plus I think music composition is God’s gift-I’ve got a bank of 300 tunes already I compose so much. I work each day.” Himesh is also producer of TV serials like Andaz, aashique, Amar Prem etc and he keeps both the diverse occupations going with great felicity. Now listeners can look forward to some youthful music Today Reshamiya seems to be the most popular composers among the new ones-he has some half dozen films on release two of which Dil Maange More and Vaada are creating a ripple at the music stations. Aitraaz, which has already released also showcases his works very positively. How is Aitraaz a milestone for you? It was ambitious for me working with Subhash Ghai. It was a haunting story where music had to be very good. We had to work on the situations-every song has it’s own situation as well as audio value ‘aankhen band karke’ has done very well. But the other numbers are also doing well. Your kind of music? Any music, which is soulful and the orchestration is very up market and trendy. That whole blend is my kind of music. I believe in using pure Raags. I have learnt from my father at the age of 13. Dil maange more seems different? Dil maange more is doing extremely well-we have all the ingredients for foot tapping music- Shahid kapur 3 girls-the whole track is absolutely foot tapping-at the same time it is not simplified-there is a very retro rock and roll kind of song, you have two romantic numbers- ‘aisa dewwana hua’ is one. There is a different kind of title track. The entire groove is very different. The youth will identify with it-in fact it is selling well its number 5 on the charts currently. I have been working with Sameer quite a bit after the stupendous success of Tere naam, In the last few years despite the crisis the industry is facing Tere naam is still selling long after it’s release and there are still paid promos being shown, It has broken all records in the last two years. Next in the pipeline? I’ve done Vaada with Satish Kaushik- and it’s really selling. The song ‘woh ladki nahin zindagi meri’ I’ve some 15 films- Milenge milenge for Boney Kapoor- this film has 8 lovely numbers, which are my personal favorites. I am doing a film with Priyadarshan. Another with David Dhawan another with Harry Baweja titled ‘Main aisa hi hoon’ Music industry has become very competitive but if you do well you are doing well. Tere naam has proved that despite the piracy etc music can sell. So we have to work harder. I am trying to do that.
Earlier if you sold 30 lakhs it was a hit-today if you sell 5 lakh albums, its super hit. So the music industry is going through a crisis. Aitraaz we have crossed 7 lakhs and Tere naam 70 lakhs.

Himesh Reshammiya on Ek Main aur Ek Tu |
| Himesh Reshammiya's tryst with Zee's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa seems to have extended to the show's latest version as well - he will soon be seen on Ek Main aur Ek Tu as a celeb judge!
The composer, who lately seems to be making more news as a singer than as a music composer, had been one of the four magical mentors in the recently concluded reality show, Sa Re Ga Pa Ma Challenge 2005. Reshammiya is full of praise for his prodigy, Vinit, who was eliminated in the final round. "I have recorded five song with Vinit and am very confident that he'll be a star in the next six months," says Reshammiya, who claims to have given Himani, Hemachandra and Debojit a chance to sing for him as well. "Young talent should always be appreciated! It's their time now and they should be givem a chance to show their talent!" says Reshammiya. The episode featuring Reshammiya will be telecast this Friday, 14 April. Source : ttp://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k6/apr/10apr/news_sare.php

Re: Himesh Reshammiya Music Director, Composer & Singer
Bar girls want to sway to Jhalak Dikhla Jaa...Santosh Andhale Tough as it is to explain, Himesh Reshammiya and his nasal twang have registered a few more fans. A majority of the former bar girls say, whenever they return to the bar dance floor, they would prefer to sway to Reshammiya’s songs. And the song has to be: ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’.
“We have been practising dancing on his songs in the privacy of our rooms,” said a bar girl, adding with a smile, “Now that the ban has been lifted, we can take it to the dance floor. I’m sure just about every bar in the city will soon be rocking with Reshammiya’s numbers.”
For four months, Fareeda, a bar girl from Ghatkopar’s Ramabai Colony, said they had only been waiting. With a childish excitement, she added, “We are all planning to start our rehearsals again. We will be back in demand. We will be dancing again.”
Once the dances were banned, waiters at a bar complained, orchestras were reduced to playing melancholic songs demanded by patrons. “Who wants to listen to mohammad Rafi and Mukesh nowadays? You can’t dance to them,” said a bar girl from Grant Road.
Everyone seems to concur. A Ramesh, a disk jockey who works in Ocean Bar in Mumbai Central, grumbled customers were forcing him to play old songs. He said, once the dancing resumes, “new songs would be back as well. I’ll enjoy it more.”
“Reshammiya’s songs are fun and cheerful. Now that the gloom has lifted, we will be back singing livelier songs,” said the girl from Grant Road. Now that would, indeed, be music to Reshammiya’s ears.

Re: Himesh Reshammiya Music Director, Composer & Singer
Himesh `Cash`ammiya! By: Shaheen Parkar December 23, 2006
| | Apna sapna even more money: Himesh Reshammiya | Himesh Reshammiya’s much-touted New Year’s Eve concert has turned into a platform for bargaining, much to the chagrin of the event’s organisers. It is reliably learnt that the singer-composer struck a deal for Rs 25 lakh for his performance, and was even given Rs 15 lakh as advance. But it seems Reshammiya wants to cash in on his popularity and feels he deserves more moolah for the special concert. Demand and supply Touted as a ‘Reshammiya first time ever in Mumbai’ show, the Aap Kaa Surroor concert will be held at the Renaissance Hotel, Powai on December 31. This will be his first live show in Mumbai after he hit the high notes in the music industry. Besides the New Year’s Eve bash, there will also be a special performance for children at the same venue in the afternoon. The show is being managed by Warlock Entertainment Services, and the cost of a ticket is Rs 15,000 for a couple. Says an onlooker, “Himesh told the organisers that he deserved more than Rs 25 lakh. He then asked for Rs 40 lakh for the performance. If they did not pay him this hiked fee, he said he would return the advance amount. Obviously, the organisers did not want a no-show. They had no choice but to comply and assured him that he would be paid his price.” When asked about his escalating performance fee, Reshammiya says, “I cannot comment on the money. These are not the figures quoted.” Positive side So was it an even higher price? Says Reshammiya, “It’s a sensible deal is all I can say. It is not as if I demanded something more. The deal happened just a few days earlier, so it is still in the negotiation stage. This is the first time I am hosting a New Year’s Eve bash. It is a unique concept and there is also a special show for children. I think this is a nice gesture as mostly kids stay at home. Look at the positive side.” The singer informs that Prashant Chaddha (who directed his music video Aap Kaa Surroor with the Warlock team) inked the deal. Incidentally, Chaddha is also responsible for Reshammiya’s personal styling. He is also directing Aap Ka Surorr — The Real Luv Story starring Reshammiya. Simple negotiation Actress-producer Vandana Sajnani of Moksh Creations, who is doing the ground events of the show, says, “This is Himesh’s first big show in Mumbai. It is the same concert that he performed in Wembley in October. The hotel is being transformed into a party zone. You can dance, sing along or just watch him perform. The reason why we zeroed in on Renaissanace is because other party areas like Juhu are packed with traffic. Powai is a nice place to bring in the New Year. Moreover, he will also perform specially for kids.” Sajnani informs that the tickets for Reshammiya’s concert were initially Rs 6,000 per person and was hiked to Rs 7,500 per person. Was this because Reshammiya hiked his fees for the concert? Sajnani exclaims, “Don’t ask me all this. I don’t know!” As Reshammiya maintains, “There was no hike; it was and still is a simple negotiation.”s |

Re: Himesh Reshammiya Music Director, Composer & Singer

Deep inside.....Deep !!!!!!! Himesh Reshammiya everywhereWhen I switch on the TV..I see a guy singing with tears in his eyes, heavy beard and wearing cap….when I change the channel..I see the same guy singing around the girls…when I switch to another channel, I see the same guy dancing with Emraan Hashmi, Dino Morea and Udita Goswami… Car tapes are silent without his songs, parties are not complete without his dance tracks… Talking about the Sings, Music Director Himesh Reshammiya.in his early days he used to look like some sad person with no tears on his face but now he looks more of serious but always with tears in his eyes..(I have no idea why he is shown in tears in most of his songs) but whatever it is, his songs are on lips of every youngster… I am not saying this because his songs are being played all the time on TV..but I have noticed it all the time…couple of youngsters stay in my society..I always see them playing his songs (The new album)….I had gone to a party few days back…and the songs from the movie Aksar made everyone dance like anything…(Music was by him)….ofcourse there were other songs too but compared to other music director more of his songs are being played everywhere… I have never noticed any music director giving hits one after another...Hats off to him….I take my words back after watching his recent new songs, the songs are very similar to his old songs, just minor changes in the tunes…if he is going to continue like this..then…I don’t see any chance of being on top….

Re: Himesh Reshammiya Music Director, Composer & Singer
History repeats. Mithun-Bappi and Salmaan-Himesh There is an article in todays Maharashtra Times, Mumbai about Himesh. As they have mentioned, Himesh is following BAppi Lahiri’s path. Mithun- Bappi jodi was a big hit in Mithun’s career. Bappida started by lifting the music from some English pop songs. Then he entered the disco style e.g. Disco dancer, Dance dance, Rck dancer, Kasam Paida Karne Waale Ki etc. All gr8 Mithun hits. Also he was famous for his cloths and accessories, industry people call him ‘SONE KI KHAN’.
Similar to Bappida, Himesh started off with Sallu’s Auzar. the song was ‘Aarre baba aarre baba karke diwana..’ and the music was from ‘Macarena’. Then he gave some soft music in Salmaan’s next ‘Pya kiya to darna kya’ e.g. ‘Odhali chunariya’. then again his biggest hit was ‘Tere naam’. guys remove the song from the flick and then imagine it. That’s how much the music helped the film. When critics said that Himesh can only do Indian music, he came with ‘Nikamma’ and ‘Just chill’ tracks. All SALMAAN KHAN hits. Then he came with that beard in ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ . Again a movie which had only music as USP ( if u ignore the lead actress). Like Bappida he also has trademark cloths and accessories.

Re: Himesh Reshammiya Music Director, Composer & Singer

We have all heard him. Himesh Reshammiya is everywhere: playing inside every auto-rickshaw, dominating a dance floor, and constantly on all movie channels. There are videos, usually featuring Emraan Hashmi, set to an increasingly generic blend of Reshammiya's uniquely nasal voice and thumpingly aggressive beats. The first time around, his song kinda grew on us. It was, for lack of another vague word, 'different.' But the hits continue, relentlessly. The absurd crooning now features in virtually every Bollywood release. Are we bored yet? Give us your verdict: Have you had enough of Himesh Reshammiya?

Re: Himesh Reshammiya Music Director, Composer & Singer
Criticism doesn’t bother Reshammiya
 Indo-Asian News Service
Mumbai, March 27, 2006 | His new found fame and success as a singer has earned music director Himesh Reshammiya several enemies in the industry. Even colleague Anu Malik is now criticising him. Malik, who refused to share the credit with him after he recorded a number for T-series' latest production Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye, said he wouldn't allow anyone to invade his terrain unethically. Reshammiya says he was shocked after reading Malik's outburst, reports Bollywood Trade. "It came as a big surprise, since I had sought a 'no objection' from Malik before recording the song for the film. It was only after the producer, Bhushan Kumar, got it in the writing that I recorded the song," said Reshammiya, adding he has been cautious about ethics throughout his career. "I have always made sure that I do not intrude anyone's territory despite the several offers I keep getting. On the contrary, I had to share the credits with other music directors in Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya and Hello Brother." In another instance, singer Sonu Nigam expressed his reservations about Reshammiya sweeping away the awards for best singer this year, but the latter dismissed it with a smile. | | Himesh Reshammiya's new found fame and success as a singer has earned him several enemies in the industry. Even colleague Anu Malik is now criticising him. | He said: "I respect Sonu for his great singing prowess and I'd be happy if he walks away with all the awards for the best singer. I can't help it if the audiences make my songs a hit or the juries unanimously vote me as the best singer." Reshammiya, who won the Filmfare award for the title track of Aashiq Banaya Aapne, is unperturbed by the critical backlash by his colleagues and says the industry has been largely kind to him. "I am neither hurt nor disturbed by the occasional backbiting and criticism from my colleagues. By and large, the music industry has been very supportive. It is just that some people are surprised with the fact that a music director, who is also a singer, has walked away with all the awards for singing. "Probably for the first time in the music industry, a music director has been honoured for singing but I am not a singer by fluke. Before I got the desired effect in my voice, I trained in classical music under my father for several years. "Of the many songs I have recorded so far, whether it is for my album, Aap Ka Suroor or films, there is not a single song that hasn't topped the charts. Aksar is my 28th album and the response has been phenomenal." Meanwhile, he continues with his record-breaking spree at the music charts. After Aksar, he is now upbeat about the new track in director Deepak Tijori's Tom Dick And Harry that has become the latest sensation. Commenting upon Reshammiya's popularity as a singer Tijori said: "He is the biggest craze and whatever he records invariably makes it to the charts. He has got this amazing sense of music." |

Re: Himesh Reshammiya Music Director, Composer & Singer
Himesh Reshammiya whoops it up on Ek Main Aur Ek Tu
By Subhash K Jha | Wednesday, 12 April , 2006, 12:39
Himesh Reshammiya, who whipped up such a frenzy of interest as a judge on 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' will be back this week on the earlier music contest's new avatar 'Ek Main Aur Ek Tum'. "It was like a homecoming for him," said the disernibly excited show-director Gajendra Singh after the recording . "Himesh is as charged and revved-up on Ek Main Aur Ek Tu this week as he used to be on 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'. He encouraged the contestants by praising them profusely rather than being uneccesarily stingy with compliments."
It should be mentioned here that last week's star-judge Alka Yagnik seemed to be unnecessarily harsh in her judgement on all the female contestants on 'Ek Main…' Says Gajendra, "Himesh was a riot. He was so charged he enthused the participants."
Says Himesh, "I had a great time. To me, being on 'Ek Main Aur Ek Tu' seemed no different from 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'. Some contestants were really good. I really enjoyed Twinkle-Biswas and Aishwarya-Ujjaini's performances." Himesh even sings his 'Aap Ka Suroor tracks' with these singing couples.
"To have them sing together in a compatible unit is not easy. I think the Sa Re Ga Ma participants who had to sing solo had it much easier. On Ek Main…the two singers have to match each other's scales and styles. That means they have to lose some of their singing identity to accommodate their partner. That isn't easy," explains Himesh.
One singing pair Raktima and Vishwanath gets eliminated this week. "Due to Vishwanath's misconduct last week they lost out on a lot of votes," says Gajendra Singh. "Our audiences aren't into vulgar antics."

Re: Himesh Reshammiya Music Director, Composer & Singer
Acocktail of blues, soul& R&B | | | Debutant Corinne Bailey Rae's self titled CD has all those ingredients and more. A value buy. |
| | Music from a singer who is being compared to Billy Halliday and songs from a new film called Tom Dick and Harry is on Joel's playlist this week. Whenever I get a piece of music that is surrounded by a lot of hype, I always look at it with some suspicion, and that's what I felt when we got newbie soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae's self titled CD. This young singer has been compared to Billie Holiday, and from the minute the music began, I felt that the build-up is justified. < src="http://202.87.40.52/promos/sponsor_news.js"> Comparisons to Billy Holiday notwithstanding, Corinne Bailey Rae literally really does have a voice like a breath of fresh air, like a sunny day, like an afternoon in a hammock, like sipping mai-tais... Corinne's music is for hope, spring time, love and the works... The album begins with her airy first single 'Like a Star', which sets the tone for the rest of the album - blues, soul and R&B, but without too much of the pain that drags albums like this down. One of our favourite songs is the other single of the album, the light and lovely 'Put Your Record On'. Another standout track - 'Call Me When you Get This', which though goes back to the great Wall Of Sound arrangements, still remains as light as a well made cheesecake. All tracks on this song range from slow to mid-tempo, you aren't going to find any club hits in this album, thought at the same time, you can go through this entire album without feeling like skipping a single track. This album came to me highly recommended. I agree completely. Now lets review some Bollywood fare - Tom, Dick & Harry is a Sohail Khan starrer due for release sometime this year and the hottest playback singer and composer, Himesh Reshammiya has churned out yet another club favourite. Reshammiya is the flavour of the month, and though many might dislike his nasal voice or his simplistic arrangements, you can't but bop your head around while one of his songs comes on the radio. 'Jhoom Jhoom' is the big hit from this album, and with the constant TV coverage, this song promises to be the big club-burner, atleast for the next few weeks. 'Tanha Jiya Na Jaaye' is another song that seems like its going to be the next big thing, and here Himesh has brought his high pitch down a few notches. Most of the songs on this CD have remix versions attached, and for an album of the week, this is a decent pick. Everything that Himesh touches right now seems to turn to gold, but I have a feeling that unless he changes his style right now, he's going to run out of his shelf life. |
