 Jatin-Lalit Pandit
| People who have worked with Jatin-Lalit know about my work" - Lalit Pandit | By IndiaFM News Bureau, March 2, 2007
| Jatin-Lalit have been the most prominent music composers in Bollywood since a decade. The duo is known for creating melodious music and has worked with some big banners in the industry. However, last year, the two split and are now working independently. Life Mein Kabhi Kabhiee will be the first solo film album of Lalit Pandit and he is very excited about it.
Lalit talks to IndiaFM about life after going solo….
Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee will be your first solo album Yes. And I am very happy that life has moved on and I am very happy with the way things are happening. I am absolutely satisfied with the way the music of Life Mein Kabhi Kabhiee has turned out.
What is the music of Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee like? Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee is a very different subject. It’s about people who venture into different genre of professions after they finish their education. It’s the story about how people face different things in life when they are on their way to become professionals. There aren’t really any straight forward romantic situations in the film but there is one song. All other songs are very much situational. It’s a very melodious music.
What kind of moods are there in the album? It’s fun music full of intensity. One or two songs in the album have lot intensity. I have always made melodious scores and this album also retains the melody.
Any new kind of instrument that you have experimented with in this album? Yes, I have used a Chinese flute and also a Chinese string instrument which is played with a bow, which sounds wonderful. I’ve used them in one of the songs called ‘Hum khushi ki chah mein’.
Which singers have sung in the album? The music is very new and I have used the younger lot of singers, as the characters of the film are very young. Shaan who is one of my favourite singers has sung a song. Then there is a solo song with Zubin and a part of it is sung by me and Alka Yagnik. There are also two new boys, Shamit and Abhijeet who sung in this track. There is a romantic song ‘Hum tum, hum tum’ which is sung by KK and Gayatri. There is one song called ‘Geehra geehra’ sung by Sunidhi Chauhan which is a very different track. It is somewhat like ‘Jaadu hai tera hai jaadu’ from Ghulam, which incidently, was also a Vikram Bhatt film. That song begins slowly and then the tempo of the song increases and it goes faster. So, I have structured the song in that particular way and Sunidhi has sung the song very beautifully.
| I am very happy that life has moved on and I am very happy with the way things are happening. | Was there any difference while working solo as opposed to working in a team with Jatin? Well, I am a workaholic. I love music, I love working and I love to spend time making music. I am doubly charged thinking that I have to prove myself again. I consider myself as a newcomer and I value the experience that I have gained over the years in this industry. It is helping me a lot. I am very happy that whomever I have approached, people have supported me and given me opportunity to work with them.
Any challenges on the solo journey? God has given me a fair chance and I have no complains. I just have to work hard and deliver good music as I have always done before. I am working very hard and I don’t want to let anybody down, be it the producer, the director or myself. I always knew that I will get work and I have been consistent in giving my music and people who have worked with Jatin-Lalit know about my work.
| I am composing music for a Shah Rukh Khan film | Which other films are you currently working on? I am doing a Mukesh Bhatt film called Showbiz I have recorded two songs for it. The film is directed by Raju Khan. On March 18, the music for my Bengali film Bidhataar Lekha is releasing, which I have done for Rani Mukherjee’s production. Her brother Raja Mukherjee is directing the film. These are the two immediate releases. I have signed three very big films but I can’t talk about them at this point. One of them is a Shah Rukh Khan film.
Any idea what Jatin is up to these days? Well, I only know that he has completed a private album sung by his brother and sister-in-law. |

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayengea k a The Brave Heart Will Take the Bride 1995-India-Romantic Comedy/Musical Comedy
PLOT DESCRIPTION Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (Brave Heart Will Take the Bride) was a huge hit in India, and won all the major Filmfare Awards. It was also the film that catapulted Shahrukh Khan to Bollywood superstardom, and it was the first of several successful pairings of Khan and Kajol. Khan plays Raj, a likeably goofy rich Indian boy, brought up in London, who's had everything handed to him in life. Kajol is Simran, a proper Indian girl who also lives in London. Her stern father (Amrish Puri) has arranged for her to go to back to his sorely missed homeland in Punjab to marry the son of an old friend. Simran persuades the old man to let her go off on a month-long trip to Europe with her girlfriends before she weds. On the trip, Simran meets Raj, and naturally they don't get along at first. He humiliates her with his pranks, and she refuses to loosen up. Then they get stranded together, get drunk together, sing and dance together, and begin to develop feelings for each other. They return to London, each hoping the other will express his/her love. They part, and when Simran's father overhears her telling her mother (Farida Jalal) about Raj, he gets angry and demands that they leave for India immediately. But Raj follows them there, determined to win over Simran's father and take Simran as his bride. He ingratiates himself with the dimwitted groom, Kuljit (Parmeet Sethi), and enters the household as his friend. Things get even more complicated when Kuljit's family mistakenly believes that Raj is interested in the groom's sister, and they begin to plan a double wedding. The film was the directorial debut of Aditya Chopra, and the hit soundtrack was composed by the writing team Jatin-Lalit. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide |

 Re: Lalit Pandit
Music composer Jatin Pandit indulges in some big bro talk with Roshmila Bhattacharya It took us 18 years to build the brand name Jatin-Lalit. That worked for us. After the jaadu ki jhappi on Voice of India are Jatin and lalit now ready for a patch-up professionally? Personally, I'm all for it and ready to welcome Lalit back with open arms. The decision is his. There were no problems from my end. I'm easygoing. I have no ego, but I have my self-respect. So there's been no move from his part? Not yet. But you seem more at ease on the Voice Of India sets now. When we meet, we greet each other cordially.. nothing more. I'm hopeful things will get better with time. You were not on speaking terms for a while. What triggered the discord? It had been brewing for a while but frankly, even I didn't expect a split. (After a long pause) I don't want to go down that path again. All I can say is that if Lalit's willing, I'm ready to join hands with him again. Would you agree that the split hasn't benefited either of you? Lalit's had one Hindi film release. Life Mein Kabhi Kabhie. I think there was a Bengali film too. I've done a few albums. One has to move ahead, work hard.. harder. That's what pays off. There were no big banners, however, after Yashraj's Fanaa which was your last score together? (Sighs) It took us 18 years to build the brand name Jatin Lalit. That worked for us. When a team breaks the road is rocky again. Karan (Johar) and Adi (Aditya Chopra) tried to tell Lalit not to take this deci sion. We lost out on several good offers. So what's in the pipeline for you now? I plan to come up with an album of my own songs. Then there's a crossover film being produced by an NRI. I've recorded four songs, there's one more to go. There's also a Bhojpuri film? I did that one only for Bhagyashree. She's the producer of the film and wanted some upbeat music that would appeal to the young crowd. With Voice Of India in its final leg, which singer do you place your bet on? It's hard to say since it's the people's voice that prevails. Priyani's been eliminated. Harshit and Irrfan have been in the danger zone too. Toshi and Abhas have staged remarkable come backs by polling the highest votes, but even that's no guarantee to a safe run. There's little we can do except express our views on the calibre of the contestant and try to guide public opinion in the right direction. Both Indian Idol and Sa Re Ga Ma Challenge 2007 ended up crowning the less deserving contestant, or so the judges crib. Could that happen with Voice.. too? I should hope not. Gajendra Singh, the producer-director of the show, is a very knowledgeable person. However, I think the time has come for a jury-based show where the viewers aren't given veto powers. Any more reality shows for you? I'm doing Jhoom India that will be aired on Sahara soon. I'll be training a familiar TV celebrity in music. It's different.

 Re: Lalit Pandit
Words don\'t matter Roshmila Bhattacharya Lalit Pandit, who was a judge on Star Voice of India, recently recorded a song with runner-up Harshit Saxena and Alka Yagnik for Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aayen. "Harshit should have won. He deserved a break... I'd like to record more songs with him," said Pandit. Two other contestants, Toshi and Sumitra, have also sung for Dulha Mil Gaya and Mere Khwabon... Pandit's also recorded a song with the VOI winner Ishmeet Singh. "I never made any promises on the show. I believe in doing things and not just talking big."

 Re: Lalit Pandit
| Jatin Lalit reunite after split | |
Tuesday, May 20 2008 Famous duo Jatin-Lalit who were once known to compose enchanting music like Pehla nasha, Dilwale dulhaniya le jayenge and for Fanaa... might actually patch up after their much publicised split and get back to doing what they are best at. Jatin-Lalit's sister, Vijeta Pandit along with music director husband Aadesh Shrivastava will be seen on Sony"s music reality show Waar Parriwar.
Not missing the opportunity host Urmila asked Vijeta how did she, as a sister, feel when her brothers Jatin - Lalit split up? A distressed Vijeta said that till date she has no idea why they split and what led to the split between her brothers. However, since the spilt she has been urging her brothers to get back together and is hoping for their reunion soon.
Music surely has its way of bringing people together; it's a great healer. When Jatin was asked about their getting back together he promptly said he has no problem with Lalit. In fact if Waar Parriwar could bring Lalit on the show he, Jatin, will go forward and extend his hand & patch up with his brother. So you see Waar Parriwar is not about singing families alone, but family bonding & reunion, big time.
Will Waar Parriwar bring the two music director brothers together? Well, we sure hope Jatin-Lalit get back together and offer some more good music compositions.
