HIT LIST - Cool Kat beats cricket in 2008 searches Ruchi Hajela New Delhi IT is Kat and not Ash who is hotter with Indian googlers, reveals an annual study on net usage, behaviour compiled by leading search giant Google. Katrina Kaif has not just replaced Aishwarya Rai from the number one slot that she occupied in the virtual world of search but has also emerged amongst the fastest rising items searched for on Google. “The fastest rising terms indicate unique searches and suggest trends about what is hot whereas most popular searches are those searched for most purely in volume terms,”said Vinay Goel, head of products at Google India. Interestingly, Google’s rival Yahoo has appeared higher up than Google itself in the list of 10 most popular searched for items. The Sixth Pay Commission, popular video site Youtube as well as the IRCTC (the online portal of Indian railways) have emerged in the list of top 10 fast rising searches in the India Zeitgeist (the spirit of the times) study for 2008. “Net usage in India is get ting more mainstream. While last year’s results were more technology centric, this year’s trends indicate user interest in diverse areas like sports, Bollywood and social networking,” Goel told Hindustan Times. Katrina KaifFrom Wikipedia, Katrina Kaif (Hindi: born 16 July 1984) is a Hong Kong-born British-Indian actress and model who has appeared in Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam films. Since 2007 she has starred in several commercially successful films, which made her one of the popular actresses in current Bollywood. Early life Katrina Kaif was born in Hong Kong to a Kashmiri Muslim father, Mohammed Kaif, and a British Christian mother, Suzzane. Her mother, a Harvard graduate, was a lawyer but later became involved in charity work. Her parents separated when Kaif was very young. Kaif has seven siblings. She was raised in Hawaii and later moved to her mother's home country, England. At age fourteen she was approached by an agent and began modeling; her first job was for a jewelry campaign. She continued modeling in London.
Career
Kaif's London modeling work led to her discovery by filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who gave her a part in his film Boom (2003). She moved to Mumbai and was offered a number of modeling assignments. However, filmmakers were initially hesitant to sign her because she could not speak Hindi. Kaif saw success with the 2005 film Sarkar where she had a small role Abhishek Bachchan's girlfriend. Her next release, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005), where she was paired opposite Salman Khan, earned her an award at the Stardust Award for breakthrough female performance. In 2007 Katrina appeared in the hit movie Namastey London, wherein she starred as a British girl alongside Akshay Kumar for the second time after the box office dud Humko Deewana Kar Gaye. She has since featured in a series of box office hits that include Apne, Partner and Welcome. 2008 saw her play a negative role for the first time in Abbas-Mustan'S*** action thriller Race. She played the role of Saif Ali Khan's secretary who is secretly in love with his hostile stepbrother played by Akshay Khanna. She appeared next in Anees Bazmee's box office super-hit Singh Is Kinng alongside Akshay Kumar for the fourth time. Kaif's final release of the year, Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj, was a surprise critical and commercial failure. Kaif's first release for 2009, New York, with John Abraham was a critical and commercial success. Kaif's performance was highly appreciated with critic Taran Adarsh writing, "Katrina gives you the biggest surprise. Known for her glamour roles, Katrina proves that she can deliver if the director and writer offer her a role of substance. She's outstanding. In fact, people will see a new, different Katrina this time."
In the media
Kaif was voted Asia's Sexiest women in 2008 and was also the most searched celebrity on Google. Kaif was also recently seen on the Reality Show 10 Ka Dum, along with Neil Nitin Mukesh for the promotion of her film New York. Kaif appeared on the singing talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa with Salman Khan to promote her film Yuvvraaj. Kaif is the model for Mattel's Bollywood Barbie, which will be released in September 2009.

He is reportedly being paid a package of Rs 25 crore to cover his lead role and scripting. Anil Sharma, in the past has directed films such as Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001), The Hero: Love Story of a Spy (2003) and Apne (2007).

 Just who are Bollywood's most powerful celebrities? Most importantly, how do we define powerful?
Are we talking merely talent or box office success or is it much more than that? If going by salaries, then someone like Katrina Kaif who commands an impressive paycheck can be called powerful. Popularity wise, too the actress would win hands down. Looks like it's a combination of all these factors that really make a star powerful. What do you think? Recently Jackie Shroff's wife Ayesha Shroff who had mentored Katrina during her early days in the industry had dropped a bombshell when she said Katrina wasn't a Kaif at all and her real name was Katrina Turquotte. Ayesha had added that they had changed the name to give Katrina more acceptability in the industry. In a recent interaction with the media when Katrina was quizzed about her name on the passport, the Rajiv Ghandhi award winner said that her name was indeed Katrina Turquotte and she had changed it to Katrina Kaif so that it was easier for people to address her. She concluded by saying that there was nothing more in the issue and she had no reasons to feel apologetic for changing her name after coming to India.

By Raymond Ronamai If you are following Katrina Kaif on Twitter, you are not following the actress but her impersonator. Katrina is not happy with this development because it's creating hell lot of gossips and rumours.
Katrina is unperturbed by the rumours that she tweet on her page that her boyfriend Salman Khan is quite lazy. The fact is that she is not in any social networking sites be it Orkut, Facebook or Twitter. However, she is planning to launch her oun website very soon to connect with her fans around the world.
She revealed that she would launch her personal website called katrinakaifofficial.com by the end of this year. She added it would be comprehensive with her exclusive pictures and photo sessions done specially by herself. She went on to say that her website would be fun, feisty, bubbly and colourful.
Considering that she is the most searched and googled Bollywood actress, her site would surely turn a huge hit.

Saturday, October 24, 2009 Katrina Kaif is going ga ga over Kareena Kapoor and their bond. Recently giving an interview to a news channel Kat was excited to talk about her friend. Not many people know that both the vivacious actress shares the same manager too.
"She is very nice girl and I like her as well as her work. We even shares one manager and I am a big fan of her," says Katrina.
There had been news in the industry about their cold war but with this statement of Kat, she is putting it all the rumours at rest. Kareena Kapoor was the unchallenged queen of B-Town at as far as her price was concerned. But Katrina Kaif started competing with her at every turn: with the price, the number of film, as well as endorsements.
"Whenever we meet each other she talks with me very nicely and I too love her company. I really do admire her as one of the great actress in the industry," she states in the interview to the entertainment channel.
Looking at this statement it seems the cold war between the two actresses
has ended. All’s well that end’s well is what we can say in this case.
