Director Farah Khan has found a unique way of adding authenticity to her film Om Shanti Om, which is a tribute to the 1970s. She has roped in music director Pyarelal of the famous Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo from the '70s to compose a song for Shah Rukh Khan's Om Shanti Om.
Although Pyarelal was initially not very keen to compose the song, he was persuaded by music directors Vishal-Shekhar and Farah Khan. However, the deal was only clinched when Shah Rukh himself called the talented Pyarelal and requested him to compose the song for his film.
Pyarelal confirms the news and says, "Yes, it is true that I am composing a song for Om Shanti Om. I have already recorded the song but I can't give you any details. All I can say is that it is a typical Laxmikant-Pyarelal kind of song from the '70s that

we were well-known for. The script required a song which had a '70s feel. Vishal-Shekhar, who are the film's music directors, first came with Farah and asked me to compose the song. However, I was not every keen.
But when Shah Rukh called, I agreed to compose the song. I simply could not refuse him as I loved the way he asked me to work on the song."
He adds, "In fact, Farah told me that she was very keen to have me compose a song for her film. She was clear about the kind of song that she wanted from me. She also cited examples from my body of work that Lamikant and I had composed years back. We have used over 145 musicians with over 40 dhols for this song. I am happy with the song as it will bring back the kind of music which we composed in the 1970s. The song will be featured in the first half of the film. The best thing is that the song's credit will read Laxmikant-Pyarelal."
