 Ranbir Puttar
Ranbir Kapoor dumping Deepika?
Monicca Adlakha and Minakshi Saini, Hindustan Times New Delhi, April 25, 2008 Being a public figure isn't easy especially when you are registered on a community website. And it becomes even more difficult when you happen to be the hottest face in Bollywood. Yes, life is tough for Ranbir Kapoor and it's only going to get tougher, following what went up on his Facebook account on April 23. | | Ranbir Kapoor's Facebook account was hacked by someone recently |
On that day, at 3.10 am, the Saawariya hero changed his status message to read 'Ranbir Kapoor is dumping Deepika. Katrina is next on the list...' Not only that, he changed his relationship status from 'It's complicated' to 'In an open relationship'. At 10.59 am, there was a post from his sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, asking, "Have u gone mad?" And then, before one could do more than stop and stare, everything went back to the way it was. The status message went blank and the relationship status changed back to 'It's complicated'. HT City tried to contact Ranbir Kapoor, but he was unavailable since he's shooting in Italy. His sister Riddhima, however spoke on his behalf. "I noticed (the status change) but that's not the reason I wrote 'have u gone mad?'" "I was replying to a message that he had sent to my inbox. However, I did see the tagline, but don't think he has written it - possibily someone got to know his password, hacked it and wrote it..." Whatever you say, Riddhima.

 Re: Ranbir Puttar
Ranbir Kapoor has found himself a new girlfriend -- on screen, that is. His upcoming film, Yash Raj Films' Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year, sees him opposite debutante Shazhan Padamsee. This may be Shazhan's first film but she is not new to showbiz. Daughter of singer Sharon Prabhakar and theatre personality Alyque Padamsee, Shazhan featured in a couple of ads before she tried her luck in the movies. The charming 21-year-old girl chats with Nithya Ramani about her first film, directed by Shimit Amin (of Chak De! India fame). Was acting always in the cards for you? I've always wanted to be an actor. I used to be very shy as a teenager -- very shy of the camera and the spotlight. Whenever my parents would ask me to pose for a photographer, I would hide behind my dad. But ever since theatre happened two years ago, everything changed. My life changed. Before theatre, I was planning on becoming a scriptwriter because I like writing. But then I joined the advertising world. I interned with Ram Madhwani [ad man, who directed the brilliant film, Let's Talk], and started training as a copywriter. I did some scriptwriting as well. In fact, I tried many things. But nothing worked out. I guess something better was waiting for me. I realised I wanted to be an actor. Image: Shazhan Padamsee

 Re: Ranbir Puttar
`Ranbir should take the RK legacy forward' Says Kareena Kapoor, who feels her cousin is one of the finest actors of his generation Randhir Kapoor has been in the news, over the last one year, for his plans to revive his half a century old family banner, RK Films, with a movie toplining his younger daughter Kareena Kapoor. But, the Kapoor girl neither denies nor confirms the news. She says that her father is not making a movie at the moment, when asked about the news of a film with the RK Banner. "I wish dad made a film but right now, there is no movement on that side. He's not making a film under the RK Banner," she smiles. Ask Kareena whether she'd like to act in the movie if it ever got made and pat comes the reply, "It's my home banner. It's part of my identity. It's part who Karisma, Ranbir and I are. If dad ever makes his film under the RK banner, I would definitely want to be part of it, in any which way possible." Wouldn't she want to produce films or direct anytime, given that there is a prolific banner back home? Kareena says that she'd like her younger cousin Ranbir to hold that baton: "I'd like Ranbir to take the RK legacy forward. The girls and the women have done their bit and made the family proud. Ranbir is also doing that but it'd be fantastic to see him take charge of the film banner and take it to the heights that dadaji (Raj Kapoor) and bade dadaji (Prithviraj Kapoor) took it to.
I'm sure he'll deliver. After all, he's a true blue Kapoor."

 Re: Ranbir Puttar
I think I discovered my comic timing, Ranbir Kapoor says Mumbai If Ranbir Kapoor is bearing the weight of expectations as a member of Bollywood's first family, he's not showing it. Just four films old in the industry, the 27-year-old grandson of Raj Kapoor has already made a name as one of the most successful new faces in Bollywood. After a hectic day promoting his latest film "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani", Kapoor spoke about discovering his comic timing and why he doesn't read the newspapers every day. Q: Could you tell us about your film "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani"? "Yes. First of all, this is a Rajkumar Santoshi film and I am a huge fan of him. This is a romantic comedy and has a really light tone to it. It was such a privilege to work with a director of his calibre. Raj ji's brand of comedy is like no other. I think I discovered my comic timing in this film."
Q: You are one of the few heroes in the under-30 bracket. Do you feel that is an advantage or a disadvantage?
"Depends on the way you look at it. Yes, as a 27-year-old, there will be certain roles that will suit me better than others, but I really don't think there is a dearth of roles in Bollywood these days.
"Films like `Wake Up Sid' or now Prakash Jha's `Rajneeti' are films that maybe would not have been made ten years ago. I really don't look at it from the point of age. This is a good time to be an actor in Bollywood." Q: Do you feel that you have been slotted as a romantic hero? "Not really. Also, I don't really look at my films in terms of genre. I don't care what genre it is, as long as I agree with the script. At the end of the day, it has to be a good cinematic experience. "The rest of it hardly matters. "And it is not that I am not doing other roles. I have Prakash Jha's "Rajneeti", which is a hardhitting film and different from what I have done earlier.
"There is no set plan in my head as to the kind of films I should be doing." Q: There has been so much written about you in the press, whether it is about your link-ups or relationships. Does it bother you? A: "I will not lie and say it doesn't bother me, because it does. However, there are certain things you cannot control ". I have tried to put my side of the story across to the media so many times, but it doesn't really yield much. "I have stopped reading newspapers and magazines because they seem to know before me what is happening in my life. "I tell myself that as long as the people who are close to me know the truth, I really shouldn't pay attention." Q: Has there been too much media focus for your own good? "Yes, especially this year because I have three films releasing back to back. First there was "Wake Up Sid", now this one and I have Shimit Amin's "Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year" coming up in December.

Mumbai, November 12, 2009 Yesteryear actor Randhir Kapoor has been in the news for the past one year, thanks to his plans of reviving the half-a-century-old family banner, RK Films. If dad ever makes his film under the RK banner, I would definitely want to be part of it in any which way possible,” she replies. Kareena also feels that had her grandfather Raj Kapoor been alive, he’d have been proud of her work. “He would’ve patted my back. And why just me? He would have been proud of Karisma and Ranbir, too. It’s for the first time that an entire generation of a film family has been so successful.”

 Re: Ranbir Puttar
Bollywood's next generation, rated!Last updated on: November 16, 2009 Bollywood's bachchas are growing up. They've all come past their star launches and debut films, and the smoke around them is beginning to settle.
The following ten-to-watch have, over the last few months, appeared in their second and third major releases, and it's becoming increasingly clearer what their strengths and weaknesses are.
With an eye to the future, here's a look at those who will be tomorrow's superstars -- and those who won't.
Ranbir Kapoor
Pros:
Heir to the biggest Bollywood mantle of them all, Ranbir's rocking that last name tag with unprecedented flair. An effortless star from the word go, he's casually studly, blessed with terrific comic timing and dances very well indeed. The complete package, as they say.
Cons:
It'd be nice to see him in a film with an actual script. So far, it's all been mostly loopy and underwritten parts, and while he has the screen charisma to pull things along anyway, one waits for what'll happen when he finally gets a good film.

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor: Ranbir proposed Deepika during the Filmfare Award Nite, earlier this year. But recently both have parted their ways.

 Re: Ranbir Puttar
Ranbir Kapoor's Prem was a pretty simply dressed fellow in Rajkumar Santoshi's film. But think of the opening and closing scenes and you'll recall a golden statue of Lord Willingdon addressing the journalist and telling him the love story. Why, that stuck up Brit statue is Ranbir too! Image: Ranbir Kapoor in Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani
