 Aadesh Shrivastav....Quality Matters
Aadesh miffed with Big B
| | Changing Equations: Amitabh Bachchan with Aadesh Shrivastav |
According to sources, Amitabh Bachchan had asked music composer Aadesh Shrivastav to take charge of the music at AbhiAshs sangeet (held at Prateeksha last Friday), but later Karan Johar convinced Amitabh that Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy would be a better choice. Needless to say, this left Aadesh stunned. Whats more, Aadesh wasnt even invited for the wedding and this came as a big blow to Aadesh, who looks up to Amitabh as a mentor (he had recommended Shrivastav for films like Baghban and Babul).
A source close to Aadesh, says, If Karan had nt intervened, Aadesh would have held centrestage despite his professional commitments abroad.
Karans karam
Karan had worked with Aadesh in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, but thereafter signed Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for subsequent films.
Aadesh secretary Jagdish admits, If Amitabh had told Aadesh to organise the music for the sangeet, he would have definitely kept his work in the US aside and flown down to Mumbai.
However, Aadesh, who is currently in the US cutting an album, says, I have been here for the last four weeks, so there was no way I could attend Abhishek wedding.
As for whether Mr Bachchan invited me or not, I dont know. I am not using my Mumbai number presently.
Of course, when we called up Aadeshs Mumbai cell number he promptly answered the call. Later, when we ask Shankar if they were a last minute addition to the sangeet, he says, No, we werent a last minute addition.
We were told about the sangeet party a month ago.
And who called them up for that? The Bachchans? The Rais? No. Karan Johar did.
Need we say more?

 Re: Aadesh Shrivastav....Quality Matters
Himesh has ruined Vinit’s life | Aadesh Shrivastav, who has once again accepted to be a judge on Gajendra Singh’s musical show Voice of India, did throw around some attitude at a press meet recently.
When queried about the choice of judges in musical shows, Aadesh did not even think twice before laying serious allegations on the judges of other shows.
“People who do not have any knowledge about musical instruments and who have beaten the table in the name of music are sitting in the chairs of judges.
Tell me, will such people be able to judge singing competitions. It is because of judges like this that we have people like Qazi emerging as winners of singing shows,” said the straightforward Aadesh.
Aadesh also had something to say about the originality of music in the industry. “What are we teaching today’s generation,” asked Aadesh, adding, “Are we teaching then to pick up a song from the Middle East and compose a song like Dhoom Machale and walk away with awards? First, we have to teach them to do some original work themselves.” Now, you must have known for who the comments were.
The surprise of surprises was when Aadesh leveled serious allegations against his all time rival Himesh Reshammiya saying, “If we had to go through the entire audition process then even we would have gone bald and worn caps”. Some serious allegations came up against Himesh when Aadesh said, “Himesh has ruined Vinit’s life by first hyping him and then dubbing his song in his voice”.
Seems that Aadesh had a word of advice for everyone in the industry, even describing Aditya Narayan’s singing capability as “cute and handsome”.

 Re: Aadesh Shrivastav....Quality Matters
An international pitch for Lata Aadesh Srivastava lures Lata Mangeshkar for his album with hip-hop star Wyclef Jean. Will she finally go international? After more than 60 years as the voice of Hindi cinema, Lata Mangeshkar may finally get around to her first international album.
The composer who is persuading Lataji to take the plunge is the Lata bhakt Aadesh Shrivastav.
Says Aadesh, "In the album that I've just done with hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean, I want Lata didi to contribute alaaps. Only she can bring that sense of melodious grace and harmony to that album. I've contributed extensively to the percussion section of the album, especially on the dhol. But without Lata didi's voice my first international album would be adhura."
 | | Aadesh Srivastava | Lataji, currently putting the finishing touches to her first ghazal album in two decades, is considering the offer.
"She has to do it. Ashaji has gone international so many times. Lataji, barring that remix of Bappi Lahiri's Thoda resham lagta hai hasn't done an international album. I'll convince her," promises Aadesh. |

 Re: Aadesh Shrivastav....Quality Matters
Bollywood’s most hated? Aadesh Srivastav is set to become Bollywood’s most hated man. He’s going to launch a company to protect the rights of American singers and stop plagiarism in its tracks | Aadesh Srivastava |
Music composer Aadesh Srivastava, who claims to have not composed a single unoriginal tune in his entire career of two decades, is all set to establish a music copyright-protection company in India to prevent Indian composers from illegally ripping off foreign songs.
This is his open and unprecedented challenge to all the Bollywood composers over the generations who have copied, adapted and vandalised songs from international sources.
Aadesh says, “ The idea was actually given to me by my musical collabator, the American rapper Wyclef Jean with whom I’m doing an album I happened to mention the name of a very big Indian composer who had adapted Wyclef’s song ‘Maria’.”
“Wyclef was zapped. He said there were so many of his colleagues in America who wouldn’t know about what Indian composers are up to. He then asked me to do something about it. That’s how the idea of forming a company to protect the publishing rights of songwriters in America and other countries was born,” adds Aadesh.
Aadesh leaves for the US this week to finalise the deal. Besides Wyclef, his immediate clients are expected to be Shakira, Beyonce and several other singing giants.
“I’m aware that I’ll be the most hated man in Bollywood after I sign this deal. But that’s okay. At least I’ll be doing what’s right,” laughs the self-appointed crusader.

TALKING POINT with AAdesh Shrivastava | | It’s Alka Yagnik’s decision if she wants to quit: The composer steers clear | | Suruchi Mazumdar | | Do you think Alka Yagnik is overreacting by walking out of Amul Star Voice of India? It’s her decision if she wants to quit. I can’t comment on that. I’m busy with my music and career, and have no time to think about these things. Besides, I have been out of India for the last few weeks and I have no clue about any kind of controversy. What is your take on the fight between the two of you? All I can say is that I love music and I will not allow any injustice happening against my art. |
Did you get a brief on how to behave as a judge from Gajendrra Siingh when you were approached? I cannot comment on this It is said that these judges’ fights are concocted by the channel to boost the TRP. Voice of India is a great show. Our singers are performing extremely well and they are enough to earn high TRPs for the channel. We don’t need to stage fake fights to draw in the audience. According to TRPs, Star Voice is not doing as good as Siingh’s previous shows. On the contrary, I was told the show is enjoying very high TRP. And I have heard this from outsiders, not the production house. Gajendrra Siingh is an extremely talented and creative person; all his shows do well.

‘I would not like to blow my own trumpet’ By MIO Team Oct 05, 2006, 23:52

| Aadesh Shrivastava is a passionate musician who acclaims that he belongs to the old school of music. Though he wanted to become a doctor he changed his route to play the drums instead. He has come far in his career providing entertaining music. The latest from his kitty is ‘Babul’ featuring Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham, Salman Khan, Hema Malini and Rani Mukerji. After composing for ‘Baghban’, the music of which was widely praised, he composes the score again for the next from this production house. More on the music of the film he says, “I would not like to blow my own trumpett. All I can say is that let the music be released and people will definitely like it.” The highpoints of the album is that Amitabh Bachchan has yet again sung for him. Aadesh says that Amitji is his unanimous choice when it comes to playbacking for himself as he finds no other singers ideal other than Kishore Kumar to do the playbacking. Aadesh voices out his point on the current music scenario. “It is disheartening to see how young music directors are lifting songs and claiming success. Tell me who is using raagas these days, and this new trend of calling singers from across the border is also not done. We have so many talented singers, why do we need singers from other countries? Even in my latest film, I am launching two new singers. I am not a great musician who has a bank of 1000 songs to boast about. I am a modest composer who is trying to give his best to the music lovers of the country,” he reveals. On his career front he is looking for an international album this time. Everything has been planned though he is not ready to reveal the details yet. |

Aadesh teams up with Wyclef Jean Composer Aadesh Srivastav is all set to collaborate with fa mous rapper and producer Wyclef Jean. Srivastav recently performed alongside shakira in September in a start studded charity event in Toronto. "I had a great time performing with Wyclef and Shakira at the Four Seasons Club. Bollywood is copying the west anyways. I'd rather go and do something Indian in the west." Jean will be out with his latest album titled Carnival that will feature Norah Jones and Shakira, among others, and Srivastav will be a part of the same. Wyclef and the other artists are expected to come to India late December or January next year to shoot the video. In the meantime, Srivastav is likely to meet Shakira's managers on November 26 for yet another collaboration.

 Re: Aadesh Shrivastav....Quality Matters
Aadesh Shrivastav the first celebrity to go out on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2 | | | MUMBAI: There was tension in the air. But the mood changed to euphoria when two special guests made their surprise entry. Indian Idol winner Prashant Tamang along with Amit Paul as special guests on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa - Dancing with the Stars. They brought back memories of Indian Idol once again when the two took the stage and regaled the audience with songs they sang to live music from the band The Inner Voice. Aadesh Shrivastav is a man who has hit tunes to his credit. But when it came to shaking a leg he was caught on the wrong foot and has now been declared the first celebrity contestant to be voted out of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa - Dancing with the Stars. It was the first elimination round and Aadesh may be the first to go, but it his to his credit that a man who has never ever danced in his life took up the challenge from his son to take part in the show. Despite his hectic work schedule where he is recording songs till unearthly hours of the night, being a celebrity judge on a musical show and with high temperature it is to his credit that he still made time for back breaking rehearsals. It came as no surprise to him that he was eliminated. "I am happy that I took part on the show and was able to shed my inhibitions and picked up a few dancing steps. I now intend to dancer whenever I can!" he says with a smile. His only regret is that his choreographer Tina had to pay the price for his two left feet.
Tina, though reduced to tears at the elimination, had no regrets. She was happy to have found a brother in Aadesh. Tina, a self-taught dancerr who has picked up the Latin American dance forms with watching CDs is a professional now and intends to go abroad to do a course in Therapy through Dance. "I am Psychology student. I truly believe that dance can heal body, mind and soul. After completing the course I want to come back to India and practice here." Although Aadesh's departure brought a somber note to the show for the first time, the mood was lightened by some funny quips from the funny man. "I have applied for the post next!" he said. It sure helps to have Cyrus around. But who goes out next remains to be seen, until then keep watching and voting for your favourite contestants. Stay tuned to Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa - Dancing with the Stars every Friday and Saturday at 9 p m only on Sony Entertainment Television. |

Aadesh gigs with Wyclef Jean, on cloud nine By IANS Feb 11, 2008, 04:58
|
|
After his two back-to-back performances with Haitian musician Wyclef Jean, Bollywood composer Aadesh Shrivastava is on cloud nine. Close on the heels of his triumphant gig in Toronto Jan 12 with Jean, Shrivastava performed live with the rapper at the prestigious House Of Blues in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, Feb 8. No Indian has ever performed at this venue reserved for blues artistes and folk musicians. The theme of this historic evening was 'Hollywood Meets Bollywood' and he jammed Jean on stage with pop icon Shakira's drummer accompanying the duo. 'The first gig on Feb 8 was already sold out. They had to add another gig for Feb 10,' Shrivastava told us on phone from Hollywood. He made Jean perform some bhangra numbers and other Indian folk music. 'The idea is not to ape the western pop icons but to take our Indian music there. It's the only way we can make an impact in the west. We can never be one of them. I tried to sing some songs in English for an international audience and ended up sounding silly. 'I proudly took our Punjabi music to The House Of Blues, and made sure it registered with the foreigners,' said Shrivastava who's all set to mix symphonies and ragas for Uru Patel's ambitious international epic 'Hanuman'. During his show in Toronto last month Shrivastava spent an interesting evening with 'Bourne Identity' star Matt Damon. 'He was our anchor for the evening and I didn't know who he was. I don't watch too many Hollywood films, he said. 'After the show, Matt came over to compliment me for our music. He really liked the bhangra grooves. I paid a compliment back to him by saying he was the best anchor I had ever worked with. Matt looked at me as if I was joking. But graciously accepted my compliment.' It was then that the composer was informed about the real vocation of the evening's star-anchor. 'I was so bloody embarrassed. I decided there and then to return home and get DVDs of 'Goodwill Hunting' and 'Bourne Identity'. But I was bowled over by Matt's sporting spirit. 'In India if one fails to recognise a big star, he or she gets so pissed off. Not only did Matt laugh about my ignorance, he said he enjoyed it. We spent the whole evening discussing Bollywood and Indian music.' |

 Re: Aadesh Shrivastav....Quality Matters
Aadesh Srivastava Lashes Out at Pakistani Artists By Sonal G - BollySpice.com 9 Jan 2010 Music director Aadesh Srivastava, expressed his ire at the trend of Pakistani artists coming to India and trying to become a part of the Indian music industry.
“In no way is this a discrimination on the basis of one’s nationality or religion. The thing is. We’ve got enormous music talent in our own country, and there is no need to peep in the neighbouring country (Pakistan) for artists.” Srivastava said.
He added that despite his being a big fan of Pakistani singers like Ghulam Ali, he nursed a grudge against them for not reacting to the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai. “I am deeply saddened that NO Pakistani artist reacted to the dastardly attacks in Mumbai, and I can never forget this,” he said.
And Srivastava is not alone. He’s found support in playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, who has been very vocal about his discontent against Pakistani artists in India. “India is entertaining people who are taking from you without ever giving back anything in return. They (Pakistanis) have never promoted Indian singer.” he said.
Even as the industry people hold such views, there are others like Pritam, who feel that “they’re singers, and not Pakistanis or Indians.”

 Re: Aadesh Shrivastav....Quality Matters
Aadesh's new album to be release soonReagan Gavin Rasquinha, TNN, Sep 4, 2010
It's ace composer and singer Aadesh Shrivastava's birthday today, and he sure does have a few surprises up his sleeve.
A few days ago though, whilst seated comfortably in a restaurant at a suburban five star, he got down to tal king tunes and more. Straight off the bat, Aadesh strikes you as a no-nonsense yet colorful personality. Soft-spoken and confident. In between bites of melt-in-the-mouth chicken satay dunked generously in a thick chili paste (he turns his nose up at the peanut sauce) he talks about how seriously he takes his work and the fact that he abhors shameless hype.
"I'm not usually one to go about blowing my trumpet. I believe in doing my work first, having something in hand, something to show for, rather than ma king something out of nothing. I've seen a couple of people who do nothing and yet go on talking.
Back in 2006 I had collaborated with Wyclef Jean, Akon, Shakira. I was involved in various levels in the songs, be it rhythm track or a vocal or whatever but I never really made a huge noise about it. I believe pehle kaam karo phir baat karo," he says, glancing at a message he had just received, concidentally, from Shakira on his messenger. "I'm going to be releasing my album called Sound of Peace worldwide. I'm so thankful to my producer Umesh Chug. He understands music. I had met him through Akon when he had done a reality show with the latter in Africa.
It's going to be in Hindi and English, both. Five tracks are by me and Rashid Khan. My friends Wyclef and Akon do duets with me on this album and the London Philharmonic Orchestra too plays in it. The whole lot of them," he says, eyes beaming. There's also the lovely Pamela, a 17-year-old French singer on it and even a Marathi prayer in there! How's that for variation?
Not one to pigeonhole himself, he's also broadening his business interests, with some able help indeed, as he pointedly says, "I'm not a businessman. I prefer being in charge of the artistic side of things. That's what I do best." What he's talking about, of course, is his new website and his production house, Avinisiya Entertainment, which in a joint venture with Alvina films, has the animated film Bomamo currently being worked on.
"I'd always wanted to achieve greater things. But I really believe in helping people out too, because when I was coming up in the music industry, things weren't as easy as they are now. Richa Sharma, Sunidhi, Shaan. I gave them all breaks. They all deserved it. They deserved a chance," he says.
Speaking about music, his approach is similar: Get your basics right first. "I play guitar, a little bit of piano. You may ask me whether I am comfortable with chords or lead-style playing. I say forget that. First learn how to tune the instrument properly!"
____________ Music forms a part of me again It gives Shape to my faceless Expressions...To my Thoughts. {Alochana}
