Touchwood. Signs are that he has turned over the proverbial new leaf. Evidently, out to clean up his act vis-à-vis the black buck court case in Jodhpur.. and clued in to the fact that every film release calls for mandatory media promotion, he's actually smiling Mona Lisa-like in interviews. Aaj ka Salman Khan gives Shaikh Ayaz the smiley treatment

Hello, hello. You're suddenly all lovey-dovey with the media.. is there an agenda?
(Looking away) I've always been a calm guy Yes, there have been times when I have been angry but I have never misbehaved with anyone, and certainly not with the elders. When my parents are around, I don't even sit cross-legged or lounge on a sofa.

As a journalist, you can ask me everything which you think is important. But when my personal life is linked with someone's else's, sorry, I won't come up with quotable quotes.

It's a no-win situation really. Just the other day, a guy from the media smashed my car's windows. If I'd jumped out of the car, there would have been an ugly scene. The cameraman would have filmed it and played it again and again on his channel. Tell me, what can I do in such situations?

Have you become majorly sharif?
Chal yaar pagal hai kya?

"I don't see any competition between Saawariya and Om Shanti Om. Come on, I'm a part of both the films."Okay. How come you accepted to do a cameo role in Saawariya?
It was originally a guest appearance. But everyone knows how Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) is.. the role was extended. In fact, I didn't even realise that it's been seven years since I last worked with Sanjay in Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam. He hasn't changed.

There was a time when he had no money, but he'd still spend his last rupee on his movie. Uski film mein jo bhi paisa kharcha hota hai, woh dikhta hai. Look at his sets, they're dazzling.

Saawariya and Om Shanti Om are releasing on the same day. Why didn't you attempt to avoid the clash, especially since you know Shah Rukh Khan so well?
The dates were fixed. I don't see any competition between Saawariya and Om Shanti Om. Come on, I'm a part of both the films. I've a special appearance in Om Shanti Om. The fact that they're releasing alongside each other is good for both the films.

"Arre yaar, money is more important than anything else. Give me money and I'll do a film." How?
See, if Om Shanti Om was released first, Saawariya would have naturally followed, taking over the collections of Om.. If Saawariya came before Om, ditto. Now, this one's a win-win situation!

The trade says that you're a Rs 24 crore actor now. True?
What? Salman Khan is always Salman Khan.

Haven't you signed a multiple-film deal with Shree Ashtavinayak Films?
No, it's only a one-film deal.

Are the corporates a bane or boon for showbiz?
Arre yaar, money is more important than anything else. (Laughs) Give me money and I'll do a film.

Are you impressed with Shah Rukh Khan's six-packs?
(Laughs) It must have become four-packs by now! No no, Shah Rukh is a dear friend. He's worked extremely hard on his body. He's looking good..cool..cool. Even Aamir (Khan) is getting muscular now.

Would you work with Aamir Khan in the future?
Why not? Boss, I'm all ready.. we freaked out in Andaz Apna Apna.

He has become a director with Taare Zameen Par. Would you ever get behind the camera?
No, direction is not for me.

Are you embarrassed by any of your movies?
Not at all. In fact, I'm proud of all my films. More than 10 years ago, I did Chandramukhi which didn't do well.. it was my idea to make a film like that. Koi Mil Gaya was somewhat similar and it became such a big hit. I guess Chandramukhi was way ahead of its time.

I've always had the best in my life. I've lived a good life so far, I've never had financial problems. When I started off, my goal was to earn only Rs 10 lakh, sit back and enjoy it. That's it. (Laughs) I believe you get an interest of Rs 2,000 on that much amount.. sahi baat hai kya?

"Shah Rukh is a dear friend. He's worked extremely hard on his body. He's looking good..cool..cool. Even Aamir (Khan) is getting muscular now."I'll check. Ever been without work?
Yes. After Maine Pyar Kiya became a hit, I was jobless. I sat at home for six months. Mere abba ne phir kuch jhol kiya.. he got G P Sippy saab to announce a film with me. "Bas announce kar do.. thoda trade mein pakad ho jaayegi," my father told Sippy saab.

My friends have always stuck by me.. like Sooraj Barjatya. I still remember.. when Rajshri Films called me for Maine Pyar Kiya, I had apprehensions. It was said that none of the new actors who work with Rajshri ever has a successful career. (Laughs) Also, I'd thought they'd make me wear a dhoti in a film about a village boy and a gaon ki gori.

Is the Amar Akbar Anthony remake happening?
Dude, I'm still thinking about that. I wouldn't mind remaking Deewar or Trishul. But Amar Akbar Anthony is one of my favourite films. I think it's impossible to replay Bachchan saab's role.

Are you playing a maharaja in Subhash Ghai's Yuvraj?
I don't know about that but Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan think they're playing maharajas.

What went wrong with Jaan-e-mann and Kyun Ki?
I didn't promote Jaan-e-mann... although I liked the film. I didn't move out of my house for its promotion. Now I've learnt from Shah Rukh how important it is to promote one's films.

As for Kyun Ki, I loved it but I didn't like its ending. I requested the director (Priyardarshan) and producer to change the climax, but they said, "Sir, yeh picture to khaa jaayegi sab ko." Picture apne aapko khaa gayee.

Okay, so what's this painting kick of yours?
(Glares)

What are you painting nowadays?
You know there's a new revelation in the art world about Mona Lisa's missing eyebrows.. there are deeper meanings to the painting. I sometimes wonder, "Will psycho-analysts test my brain and heart some day to find hidden meanings in my paintings?" (Laughs)

When I think about that, I'm like, "Man, there's no deeper meaning in my paintings. Sometimes, I just spill colour on the canvas.. and a piece of art is ready." I'm not M F Husain saab but I've always been fond of sketching even as a young boy. My mother paints.. maybe that's where it comes from.

The rate at which sudden changes are happening, God Tussi Great Ho, may soon end up becoming the longest-in-the-making movie in recent memory.

Buzz is that just when producer, Afzal Khan, and director, Rumi Jaffry felt that the shooting was almost over, Salman Khan decided to get two songs picturised on Priyanka Chopra and him, reshot.

An insider reveals, “Salman felt that the songs were looking outdated.. since they had been shot a-year-and-a-half ago. He discussed his reservations with Jaffry and Khan, and it was mutually decided to can the songs again.”

Apparently, the unit didn’t get the required permission in time to film one of the songs at the predecided locations. So, the setting had to be changed. The problem was that when it was screened for Salman a couple of weeks ago, he once again expressed his dissatisfaction. The song will be reshot.

While another still remains to be shot. On being contacted, director Jaffry confirmed that they would be reshooting one song in the city. “We’ll apply for permission as soon as we get freshdates from Salman and Priyanka,”he said.

Spat or not

Just when producer, Afzal Khan, and director, Rumi Jaffry felt that the shooting was almost over, Salman Khan decided to get two songs picturised on Priyanka Chopra and him, reshot. There was talk of a spat between the two stars. When quizzed on this, Jaffri states, “Yes, I heard rumours too and even got calls from the media. When Salman and Priyanka reported on the set, all seemed normal. In fact, they were not only on the best of terms during the shoot but also had lunch together. So, I don’t know where these rumours came from. I’m sure we’ll have no trouble shooting the songs.”

Afzal Khan has pinned his hopes on God Tussi Great Ho. If it works, he can contemplate releasing the long-delayed Mehbooba that toplines Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan and Manisha Koirala.

The love triangle has been ready to hit the theatres for a year now. Reportedly, the project went over-budget and the producer is now quoting a sky-high price from distributors. The way songs are being shot and reshot, costs are escalating on God Tussi .. too.

Salman and Aishwarya

Its not too often that Salman Khan comes across his one time love Aishwarya Bachchan. Sallu and Ash were both invited at a recent wedding reception of the Wizcraft MD. Aishwarya came along with her hubby Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. However Salman made it a point to not to bump on to his ex. Rumours say Salman asked his body guard to monitor the party and made a back door entrance only after the Bachchans had left.

Salman was accompanied by younger bro Sohail Khan. Salman has made it a habit to check the guest list before attending any even when the name includes a certain Bachchan his informers reach the party before him and he makes the red carpet entry once he receives a green signal from them. Salman tries to avoid controversy as much as possible so he does not bump on to the John Abrahams and the Shahid Kapoors.

A nother story that I would like to end - happily, unhappily what- everly - is the Salman Khan versus Shera story For those who strolled in late, let me tell you that Shera is our Sallu's bodyguard. He was sacked earlier, re-hired and has now been sacked all over again - after the brat actor's birthday last Thursday at the Khan farm in Panvel. Shera was seen all over Baga beach in Goa, trying to contact me desperately He wants to become my bodyguard. Sad, doesn't the poor fellow, know? My body's just too precious to guard. My poodley pooh Pumpkin just has to bark her little bark, and Shera types start shuddering with fright What cheek.. mera bodyguard banege, indeed

Salman Khan (Hindi सलमान ख़ान, Urdu: سلمان خان. Pronunciation: /səlmɑːn xɑːn/), born Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan on December 27, 1965 is an Indian film actor who appears in Bollywood movies.

Khan, who made his acting debut with the film Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988), had his first commercial success with the blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), and won a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for his performance. He went on to star in some of Bollywood's biggest hits, such as Saajan (1991), Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994), Biwi No.1 (1999) having appeared in the highest earning films of five separate years during his career.

In 1999, Khan won a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for his extended appearance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), and since then has starred in several critical and commercial successes, including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Tere Naam (2003), No Entry (2005) and Partner (2007). Khan has thus established himself as one of the most prominent leading actors of Hindi cinema.

Career

Salman Khan made his acting debut in the 1988 film Biwi Ho To Aisi where he played a supporting role. His first leading role in a Bollywood movie was in Sooraj R. Barjatya's romance Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). The film went on to become one of India's highest grossing films. It also won him a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award, and a nomination for Filmfare Best Actor Award.

1990 saw only one film release of Khan, Baaghi, co-starring along with south actress Nagma. The film was a box office success, and it was followed by another successful year in 1991, when he starred in two hit films, Sanam Bewafa and Saajan. Despite this tremendous beginning at the box office, all of his next 1992-1993 releases resulted in box office failures.

However, Khan significantly restored his success in 1994, with his second venture beside director Sooraj Barjatya in the romance Hum Aapke Hain Koun, co-starring Madhuri Dixit. The film was the biggest hit of that year, and turned out a one of Bollywood's highest grossing films ever, placed as the fourth top earner of all times.[6] Apart from being a commercial success, the film was widely acclaimed and Khan was praised for his performance, earning his second nomination for Best Actor at the Filmfare. Three more releases featured Khan in 1994, none of which succeeded to make a box-office impact, as did the previous. Once again he reinvented his success with Rakesh Roshan's 1995 blockbuster Karan Arjun, co-starring along with Raakhee, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Mamta Kulkarni. The film was the second biggest hit of the year, and his role of Karan once again put his name among the nominees for the Best Actor award at the Filmfare, which was eventually won by his Karan Arjun co-star Shahrukh Khan.

1996 was followed by two successes. The first one was Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directional debut Khamoshi: The Musical, co-starring alongside Manisha Koirala, Nana Patekar and Seema Biswas. Though a box office failure, the film was critically acclaimed. He next starred alongside Sunny Deol and Karisma Kapoor in Raj Kanwar's action hit Jeet.

He had only two releases in 1997: Judwaa and Auzaar. The former was a comedy directed by David Dhawan co-starring Karisma Kapoor, where he played a double role of twins who were separated at birth. The film was a box office hit. The latter, co-starring Shilpa Shetty failed to do well, but developed a cult following after its video release.

Khan worked in five different films in 1998, the first being the comedy Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya opposite Kajol, one of the biggest commercial successes of that year. This was followed by the moderately successful drama Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai. Khan played a young man who has to take a child who claims to be his son, under his custody. Khan's performance in the film earned him several positive notices and favourable reviews from critics. He lastly starred in Karan Johar's directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Ha. Co-starring alongside Sharukh Khan and Kajol, he only had an extended special appearance, playing the role of Aman. However, it eventually turned out beneficial to him, as his performance earned him his second Filmfare Award under the Best Supporting Actor category.

He then starred in many hits including Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United (1999), Biwi No.1 (1999), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Tere Naa (2003), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and No Entry (2005).[5]

Khan started his year in 2007 successfully, as his first release, Partner, has done very well at the box office, receiving a blockbuster verdict. He next appeared in his first Hollywood movie, Marigold: An Adventure in India opposite American actress Ali Larter. Telling the love story of an Indian man and an American woman, the film was a major failure, both commercially and critically.

Recently he appeared in Saawariya where he made an extended special appearance.

Personal life

Khan is the eldest son of celebrated screenwriter Salim Khan and his first wife Salma Khan. His stepmother is Helen, a famous yesteryear Bollywood actress, who has co-starred with him in Kahmoshi: The Musical and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. He has two brothers, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, and two sisters, Alvira and Arpita. Alvira is married to actor/director Atul Agnihotri.

Khan is a dedicated bodybuilder. He trains everyday and is famous for taking off his shirt in movies and stage shows alike. In 2004, he was voted 7th best-looking man in the World and the best looking man in India by People magazine, U.S Khan has been involved in several charities during his career.

Despite being romantically linked with several actresses, and having relationships with ex-girlfriends Aishwarya Rai, Somy Ai and Sangeeta Bijlani, Khan is frequently featured by Indian media as Bollywood's most eligible bachelor. He has been dating actress Katrina Kaif since 2005, with whom he has co-starred in several films. In October 2007, Khan was said to have turned down an offer from Madame Tussauds to have a wax replica made of himself.[10] No particular reason was given by him. Had he accepted, Salman would have been the 4th Indian actor to have been replicated as a wax statue in the museum. However, on October 11, 2007, Khan was reported to have accepted, and as of December 2007, they are currently working on his wax statue.[11]

Controversies

Legal troubles

On September 8, 2002, Salman was arrested for rash and negligent driving. His car had collided into a bakery in Mumbai; one person who was sleeping on the sidewalk outside the bakery died and three others were injured in the mishap. Charges of culpable homicide were laid against him, but later dropped, and he was found to be, not guilty.

On February 17, 2006, Khan was sentenced to one year in prison for hunting an endangered species, the Chinkara. The sentence was stayed by a higher court during appeal. On April 10, 2006 Salman was handed a five year jail term for hunting the endangered Chinkara. He was remanded to Jodhpur jail, and remained there until April 13, when he was granted bail.On August 24, 2007, the Jodhpur sessions court, upheld the 5 year jail term for Khan in the Chinkara poaching case by turning down his appeal against the 2006 judgement. At the time of the hearing, he was busy with a shooting elsewhere, while his sister attended the proceedings. Day after, he was placed under police arrest in Jodhpur after a Rajasthan court upheld a prison sentence passed upon him for poaching. On August 31, 2007 Khan was released on bail from the Jodhpur Central jail where he has spent six days.

Relationship troubles

His turbulent relationship with actress Aishwarya Rai was a well publicised topic in the Indian media, and had constantly filled gossip columns. After their break-up in March 2002, Rai accused him of harassing her. She claimed that Khan had not been able to come to terms with their break-up and was hounding her; her parents lodged a complaint against him.

In 2005, news outlets released what was said to be an illicit copy of a mobile phone call recorded in 2001 by the Mumbai police. It appeared to be a call in which he threatened his ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai, in an effort to force her to appear at social events held by Mumbai crime figures. The call featured boasts of connections to organized crime and derogatory comments about other actors. However, the alleged tape was tested in the government's Forensic lab in Chandigarh, which concluded that it was a fake.

Madame Tussauds Khan dedicates Tussauds wax double to Bollywood fans
Khan's muscular statue, dressed in a black sleeveless T- shirt and black jeans donated by the star, stands in a special Bollywood section alongside those of three other Mumbai greats - Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan.
LONDON

Brawny Bollywood superstar Salman Khan joined the A-list of heroes at Madame Tus sauds museum on January 15, unveiling a wax double of himself before hundreds of adoring fans.

"I am really very touched that my fans have chosen me to appear in Madame Tussauds, and hope that the figure brings a lot of enjoyment to Bollywood followers the world over," Khan said.

The star of ‘Marigold' beat nine other Indian mega stars - including Madhuri Dixit, Hrithik Roshan, Lata Mangeshkar and Abhishek Bachchan - to make it to the world famous attraction after a public poll conducted last summer.

Khan's muscular statue, dressed in a black sleeveless T-shirt and black jeans donated by the star, stands in a special Bollywood section alongside those of three other Mumbai greats Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan.

Taking a light-hearted dig at his fellow-Mumbai stars, Khan said, "Very few Indians have the privilege and it feels good to be a part of it. We have Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya, Shah Rukh and I think I am the third most deserving in the museum."

Bollywood statues are important to efforts by the popular central London museum to attract more Asian visitors.

Nicky Hobbs of Madame Tussauds said, "We received over 10,000 votes in the poll from fans and visitors, and were thrilled that Salman Khan came out top.

"The Asian market is critical to our attraction and our association with Bollywood has seen a dramatic increase in the number of domestic and overseas Asians visiting and enjoying Madame Tussauds. We hope to build upon this exciting relationship with the unveiling of Salman Khan." The heartthrob met with Madame Tussauds sculptors in Mumbai late last year to be measured and photographed for the creation of his figure.

Khan, who has starred in over 55 films since his 1988 debut film ‘Biwi Ho To Aisi' made it to the central London attraction after beating off competition from Madhuri Dixit, Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukerji, Karan Johar, Kajol, Lata Mangeshkar, Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham.

    High hopes

M y Devdas type of informer reveals that Salman Khan has finally kicked the bottle. Puhleease, tell me another. My eyes are lasersharp and our Sallu did look high as a kite at the Tussauds ceremony So whether he's gone off whisky remains debatable. But Katrina Kaif is taking the credit for taming wild Sallu. Ooof. Again that's debatable, no? The Tussauds officials weren't too happy because he didn't interact with the media... and didn't even wave to his fans. Think he lost quite a few that day With the Brits, such behaviour is just not on. So the next time they set up a waxwork of an Indian stat: the contractual must-dos will be much more stringent. Chip chip tally ho.

Not so charming

A chha listen Salman .Khan won't be exactly pleased to hear this. But the authorities at Madame Tussauds have decided to remove the famous silver bracelet from his wax statue in the coming days. Considering the fact that Sallu had lent his lucky charm to the authorities to make a replica for his statue, he'll be disappointed to learn that. A saheli from London tells me that the Tussaudswallas are worried the accessory might be damaged by over-enthusiastic fans who pose for pictures with the statues.

Katrina's version of 'Salman-slapping' story

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif

Bollywood bad boy Salman Khan, rumourmongers' easiest prey, is in the news again for all the wrong reasons. It was reported that Salman slapped his long time girlfriend Katrina Kaif at a coffee bar recently. Now, Katrina has come out with her version of the story for all to know.

The gorgeous actress seems to be tired of the rumours surrounding her love life. And she has lost her patience this time around. She said that she had never talked about her personal life and clarified rumours until now. She termed the 'Salman-slapping' story as baseless rumours and utter rubbish. She added that the rumour must have been started by some guys with vested interest

It was earlier rumoured that Salman's possessive attitude had turned Katrina off. So much has been written about them but they have been keeping silent all this while. This time around, Katrina has come out to defend her troubled-boyfriend. She said that Salman never slapped her.

Meanwhile, Katrina is going great guns as far as her film career is concerned. 2007 was her year. Her films Namastey London, Apne, Partner and Welcome did exceptionally well at the box office. Her next film Race is also one of the most-awaited films. She also has films like Singh is King, Main Yuvraj and two films with Yashraj Films.

Well, it's time Salman and Katrina end unnecessary rumours by tying the knot – or at least make their relationship public!

‘Fallout with Salman? That\'s a rumour!\'
Kamal Khan on camps, composing and competition Filmmakers from other camps were not willing to touch me when I was with Salman Khan..

Riya V Anandwala

Where did you disappear? (Smiles) Well, after Jo Bole so Nihaal released, I took a break for a year to wrap up my fourth album, Khan Fusion.

Then I was busy with a few international projects. But now I'm back. I've missed being a part of the film fraternity. Between 1998 and 2007, you've only sung for five films. Isn't that too slow? I think it's steady going. Most of my songs were big hits. But you have only sung for Salman Khan so far. Not true. I did playback for Hrithik Roshan in Na Tum Jaano na Hum. But my voice suits Salman Khan best. In O o jaane jana I sounded exactly like him. That's how I became his voice. Don't you want to step out of his shadow? Not really. I did sing for other actors but Salman has been my constant.

Didn't being a part of the Salman camp affect your career? Yes, it did. Filmmakers from other camps were not willing to touch me. Today, if someone were to say that I am who I am today because of Salman Khan, I won't dispute it. But the fact remains that I have created my own identity.

There were reports of a fallout with Salman Khan. Such stories are rumours cooked up by vested interests. Our bonding is stronger than you'd imagine. Will the video of Khan Fusion feature Salman? May be. It's contemporary film music and I have lucked out with all my albums. Are you acting in more films?

Acting was never my forte. I did Jo Bole.. because it was a big project. I enjoyed the experience. I'm enjoying Dhoom Macha De too though I never expected to be in television. So when will we see you on screen again? I was offered a few films but I had to go away. I will be doing some movies but not in a big way. My heart lies in music. What about composing? O o jaane jana was my composition. Recently, I gave the music for the Pokhri remake Wanted: Dead or Alive. It's my comeback film. You've always kept a low profile. I'm a reserved guy.

I attend a social event only if I know the host. I don't believe in networking. But without networking aren't you in danger of getting lost in the crowd? This is not an Indian Idol talent hunt contest. We're all established singers here. Has the industry changed since you were here last? I can see new trends, the western touch is prominent..which is good for me. Several musicians have come up with compositions which are contemporary. Is the competition tougher now? It is. Earlier, producers only went for popular names. Today, the cream is gone, there is room for new talent. It is going to be a tough battle.

Katrina speechless on Salman's new girl

Katrian Salman and Bruna

Katrina Kaif was recently in the capital to judge a personality contest when she was asked about the Salman Khan's affair with MTV VJ Bruna Abdalah. The actress who was caught off guard with the question was speechless for moment. The actress showing her displeasure on being asked such a question requested the media to respect the privacy of her life and walked out of the event.

Salman Khan is getting very close to the former Brazilian model Abdalah and is trying hard to promote her in the industry. Sallu has been done by the Bruna's raw beauty. Bruna was first seen in Shekhar Suman's album Kuch Khwaab Aise and has also done a item number in Anubhav Sinha's Cash.

This was the last think Katrina wanted as she and Salman are currently going through a rough patch. The couple had hit a low when there were reports that Salman had slapped her in a coffee shop. Both Salman and Katrina later categorically denied the incident. It remains to be seen how far can Katrina carry this relationship.

I\'m innocent
My family and I have been unnecessarily dragged into the con- troversy, says Salman Khan
Princy Jain

Salman Khan seems to attract trouble. On Thursday, Mumbai-based papers reported that the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) - which had be gun by attacking Amitabh Bachchan had roped in the actor in their cam paign to drive away ‘outsiders from Mumbai'. They quoted MNS spokesper son Shishir Parker saying, "Salman, Sohail and Salim Khan are among those who have expressed their sup port by sending us letters." Result: an outpouring of hate for the actor and his family He says, "This is to reaffirm .

before media and public that me and my family have been unnecessarily dragged into the entire migration issue with regards to North Indians," says Salman. "The media story stating our support with regards to this issue is misrepresented and I can confirm that me and my family have not made any statement or endorsed any campaign that supports this is sue." A source close to Salman says that the actor was contacted and had agreed to hear the issue. "Sallu bhai is always eager to help everyone. He might have agreed to lend an ear to this is sue, but never gave any commitment."

Our source also claims that Salman is immensely hurt. Salman says as much himself. "It disturbs and pains me to see people reacting to this unverified quote so strongly without confirming the credibility of the quote," he says. About his family's involvement, Salman says, "We our selves were originally migrants, and are not in any position to support such claims. We are a secular nationalistic family with members from different faiths and communities. We need to rise above divisive approaches and celebrate our unity at every given opportunity.

Other actors dragged into controversies Aamir Khan supported the Narmada Bachcao Andolan. But the actor received more brickbats than bouquets and his support re sulted in problems with the screening of his movies Rang De Basanti and Fanaa.

Smriti Irani who is a prime time soap star and Lok Sabha member had to extend a public apology after she questioned Congress Presi dent Sonia Gandhi's right to become Prime Minister of India vis-à-vis her foreign origin.

Shah Rukh Khan attended the T20 match. India won and he showed his enjoyment at the victory. But BCCI didn't like it and called it a publicity gimmick. He replied by becoming owner of the Indian Premier League's Kolkata team.

Sunny Deol also faced controversy due to his film Jo Bole So Nihaal, which faced the ire of the Shiromanee Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) on the ground that it had hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.

Late Na Ho Jaaye

Wakey, wakey, my krispy kurmuras. Now you don't wanna become as lazyhazy as moi, no? And certainly not as khaddoos as Salman Khan. I'm told, he has elected to report to the sets only in the afternoon. So what if the shoot's been scheduled for nine in the morn?

Eeee, actually I wonder who taught my divine, hunky Sallu to behave like this. I just hope and pray that it isn't the better-late-thannever Govinda... really I wish there was a penalty for late coming and early going. Anyway, since I'm not a film association chief, neither do I want to become a female Pahlajwanti Nihalani or Baasi Bhootnani, I'll just give you the facts guys.

Yeah, so apna Sallu comes around lunch time and then spends quantity time on lunch. It's the lunch recess you see. Maybe then if he's in the mood for a nap, he'll nap. Then he'll be on the mobile... then if he's in a good mood, he'll joke around with the unit. By now it's nearly sunset, and my wonderful hero then shoots for a while... and then goes home.

Vyjjy wants to cast Sallu in his first-ever film production. It's titled Mary Bold. Unlike Mary Gold, it'll have a real star as the heroine. ME!! You know, how it is with me. Very early to bed, and earlier to rise. Trouble is only Dadoo B is the early riser... but we don't have a grandpa role for him. Tsk.
