 SARHAD KE PYAAR
From Pakistan, with love It has taken 43 years for a Pakistani film, Khuda Ke Liye, to be released on Indian shores. But this is not the first time Pakistan has contributed to the Indian entertainment industry. Pakistani actors like Javed Sheikh and Meera, and singers like Atif Aslam and Adnan Sami, have been working in India for quite some time. We take a look at the prominent Pakistani stars, who have captured the Indian film, television and music industry. Atif Aslam Atif was a part of the popular Pakistani band, Jal, which gave us hit songs from albums, Aadat and Boondh. Later, he quit the band and came to India. He gained instant stardom with his song, Woh Lamhe from the film, Zeher. His other songs -- Aadat in Mahesh Bhatt's production, Kalyug and Tere Bin in Onir's Bas Ek Pal have huge hits too. Pehli Nazar from the film, Race, has added to his list of hit songs. His songs from private albums, like Doorie, Hum Kis Gali and Kuch Is Tarah have done very well too. Text: Nithya Ramani

 Re: From Pakistan, With Love
Salma Agha is also another.
I do not think Noorjahan can be clubbed among Pakistanis making it big in India. There was no Pakistan when she made it big in 1940s, and moreover, she did not figure in any Indian movies or songs after she migrated to Pakistan.

With love from Pakistan 6 Apr 2008, TNN

It isn’t an easy task to release a Pakistani film in India. It took 40 long years to get entry into the Indian film market, says writer, producer and director Shoaib Mansoor.
Khuda Ke Liye has been praised by everyone. The film, was released with 150 prints. “More Lollywood films will make it to India, but it may take some time because not all our films can compete with the Indian ones,’’ says Shoaib.
The cast includes Shaan, Iman Ali and Austin Marie Sayre. Our very own Naseeruddin Shah plays the prominent role of a Muslim cleric named Maulana Wali in a special appearance. So impressed was he with his role that he did not charge any fee.
The movie won the Silver Pyramid Award at the 31st Cairo International Film Festival in 2007, Best Foreign Film Award at Muscat Film Festival and was honoured with the Roberto Rossellini Award in Italy.
The movie set post 26/7 is a story woven around educated and modern Muslims caught in a difficult situation because of their approach towards life. The western world sees them as potential suspects of terrorism because of their names and attire.

 Re: SARHAD KE PYAAR
Pakistani artistes pray for Rahman’s win at Oscars By editor | Category: Red Carpet Feb 22nd, 2009 New Delhi (PTI): Renowned Pakistani singers Ghulam Ali and Farida Khanum feel that music maestro A R Rahman deserves an Oscar for his music in “Slumdog Millionaire”. “I pray from the depth of my heart that he wins Oscar. It will be a proud and historic moment not only for India but the whole music fraternity,” Farida Khanum told PTI from Lahore. Rahman is nominated for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for his numbers “Jai ho” and “O saya” in the rags-to-riches dram about a Mumbai slumdweller, which is also vying for Best Film and Best Director awards at the Oscars. The composer has already bagged a Golden Globe, BAFTA, Satellite Award, and Los Angeles Film Critics Association award for his music in the film. “Rahman is rendering music from the age of 16. He understood Sur from a different perspective and came up with unique style. God has been graceful to him and you feel divinity in his Sufism oriented songs like Hazi Ali and Khwaza mere Khawaza,” the Ghazal singer said. Khanum’s all time favourite Rahman song is “Dil hai chota sa” from the film “Roja” which marked his debut as a movie composer. “His melodies touch your heart. He has a huge fan base in Pakistan. I strongly feel that art and artistes are above all boundaries,” she added. Expressing similar sentiments, Ghulam Ali said, “He is amongst the most talented musicians of this generation. He deserves the Oscar. Not only Oscar but each and every award for his work.” Ali said he would love to sing for Rahman. “If I have a chance I would definitely love to sing for him. He has his own style which is simple yet melodious. His vast range keeps him above of all,” said the maestro from Karachi. Rahman enjoys a huge fan following across the border.
