VOI winner Ishmeet Singh to act in Punjabi movies

Ishmeet Singh, the Punjab da puttar who emerged winner on Star Plus’ Voice of India is all set to release his first album titled Shukriya. The album will cover all the genres including romantic, fast numbers, slow, hip-hop and a Punjabi song.

Ishmeet says, “My album will have 8-9 songs and is expected to release in the month of July. Few know that I already have an album to my credit titled Satgur Tumre Kaaj Saware, which has gurbani and paath from our holy book Guru Granth Sahib. The album had got great response from Indians as well as NRIs. Some 2000 CDs were sold in Bangkok alone.”

He is also the brand ambassador of Punjab and is the first Indian to get his face printed on lottery tickets.

The singer is flooded with acting offers and currently talks are on for two Punjabi movies. Ishmeet says, “I am very keen on doing two Punjabi movies from the lot that has been offered. I can’t divulge anything as yet as everything is in the initial stages. I will both act and sing in those movies.”

Talking about his stint on Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar, Ishmeet says, “It has been a great experience so far and I hope it continues to be. The level of the show is rising week after week. I had never come in the danger zone in Voice of India whereas in Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar I have come twice in the danger zone and that too in a row.”

As of now Ishmeet is gearing up for his world tour slated to start from August which would cover 50 cities. The tour will also have the likesof item-queen Rakhi Sawant, Sonu Niigaam and Shaan.

With so much good happening to Ishmit it’s indeed balle balle.

Former contestant of reality show stabbed

Mumbai, Jan 7 - Toshi Sabri, a former contestant in a television reality show, was stabbed by at least two assailants Andheri, northwest Mumbai, late Sunday.

Sabri was walking near a railway track with a friend when he was attacked. Deputy commissioner of police K.M.M Prasanna told IANS Monday the victim also suffered head injuries.

Sabri was rushed to Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle, around 3 km away. He was recuperating and out of danger, Prasanna said, adding that Sabri's friend was unharmed.

The victim had been among the 12 finalists on the 'Voice of India' reality talent show on the Star Plus channel.

After being voted out once, he bounced back into the main contest through a wild card entry based on his popularity. He was finally eliminated on Nov 2 last year.

Clinic All Clear Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar began in April with 18 musical prodigies from the biggest television musical reality shows. It was conceived in the quest to identify the best amongst the best; the crème de la crème among in the singers in today's industry. Those who had missed the crown in their previous shows had a chance to brave all odds, dump the past and bounce back to the top. The music director duo Vishal-Shekhar and Bollywood Director/Choreographer Farah Khan were the esteemed judges for the show and Mandira Bedi joined the soiree, providing for the glam quotient, as the anchor of the show.

All through its run, Clinic All Clear Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar has been through innumerable unforgettable moments. Verdicts based on viewer voting and judges' decision (50:50) resulted in plenty of shocks and surprises. Many talented singers, who were previously proclaimed best in their shows, were unexpectedly voted out. Touching performances by singers like Debojit Saha have reduced audiences to tears whereas foot-tapping performances by many others have made the audience groove to their beats. The show has seen a glimpse of tinsel town in Harman Baweja and has also been graced by singers like Shaan, Mika, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Richa Sharma and Sukhwinder Singh.

The grand finale showcased a mind-boggling performance by Neeraj Sreedhar, an image makeover and enhancement with the help of Bipasha Basu, quizzes and more with Vidya Balan while the dance floor was brought alive by Shahid Kapoor. No matter who the winner is, this platform has given every participant a very strong dais and exposure to the world of music in India and internationally. This journey has indeed been a very special experience for every participant and also for the entire team of Clinic All Clear Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar.

This is not the end of the journey but a new beginning. The best of singing talent is yet to be unearthed by Amul Star Voice of India (ASVOI) which is plunging into its second season soon after Clinic All Clear Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar. ASVOI 2 comes on air on June 18 and will air every Friday and Saturday at 10 pm. Rahul Vaidya is thrilled to bits. The singer has just won Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar, beating Indian Idol nemesis Abhijeet Sawant and Harshit Saxena, first runner-up of Star Voice of India.

"Winning the title feels great. I've become Champion of the Champions," says an ecstatic Rahul. "I think Jo Jeeta… is a bigger title than Indian Idol because there were no new faces; people knew every contestant very well."

This victory is even sweeter for Rahul because it comes after his loss in Indian Idol 1. "I was shattered, and it took me a long time to come out of that shock," reveals Rahul. "I wasn't even part of the grand finale as I was the second runner-up. But jo hota hai achhe ke liye hota hai." Mum's the word Rahul is putting all the controversies of the show behind him, including fellow contestant Amit Tandon's comment: "Yeh mehnat nahi karta hai." Rahul's reply to that is, "I don't react to comments. I believe if you're good, people will talk about you, and I think I've proved myself by winning this title."

And what about his attempts to impress the judges? "I've never tried that," he protests. "I gave a flower to Mandira Bedi because I have a crush on her. I didn't do it for the TRPs." A different route The 20-year-old says that though he has won a music contest, he doesn't want to become a playback singer in Bollywood. "I want to be an actor first and then sing for myself. I don't want to act in TV serials as I don't want play a father or grandfather, I just want to be my age. I have been talking to producers…"

Meanwhile, he's working on his next project. "It's an album called Maula Mere. It will be out in another two months and I'm looking forward to it."

But what of the fact that not too many reality show contestants have had any success outside TV? "The industry is already full of singers," Rahul replies without actually answering.

He's more enthusiastic talking about his prize money As Super . star, he's won Rs 50 lakh. And he has got plans for it: "I'm planning to buy a house for my brother, send my parents on a foreign tour and donate some amount to visually challenged people."
