Have you ever seen a phuchkawaali? Well, you will see one if you come to Vivekananda Park near the famous lakes of Kolkata. This is where you will find a fantastic woman named Mina Pandit. There is an entire row of vendors selling the same stuff but none of them makes a filling as delicious as Mina's. She creates magic with boiled potatoes, green chillies, coriander leaves, tamarind water and spices. She also makes dahi phuchka but I love the simple imli paani phuchka. The spicy aloo dum she makes is also great. And the fact that she is always smiling when she serves makes you want to have more. A walk in the Lakes area is a favourite Kolkata pastime and the lure of the phuchkas is the added incentive. You also get mouthwatering jhaal muri in the same area.
